  1. Ive used 40x40x3mm angle for the mounts. There is 75x75x3mm plate on the trans tunnel but none on the inner sill as ive linked that side to the roll cage.
  2. Seat mounts are in.
  3. Front brake hoses fitted.
  4. Cheers snot. I think its worked out pretty good. The res is the same height as standard but slightly back and more centred in the car. It also keeps the brake fluid away from the exhaust which is on the drivers side with this new 2rz motor. Timj. All the steering is from a ra60 celica. I also have a 60mm spacer under the steering wheel. Ive had the fluid feed hoses made in rubber so they can be clamped off to allow brake repairs.
  5. Thanks for the compliment Bowler. Got the Tilton res in place.
  6. Hi Mika, I wont know exactly where they will sit untill the car is finished and on the aligner. What iam trying to do is extend the corolla wheel base. There is a perfect lenght that most of the old wrc cars used, not sure about the new ones. Ive read 2450mm wheel base is best all round length for a gravel car. Anything shorter is very nimble but also unstable at higher speeds. My old MA61 Supra had 2600mm and was great to drive at high speed but a real hand full in the tight stuff. The RA60 Celica is almost perfect with 2500mm and does everything really well but its still a big heavy car at 1150kg. By having the front struts forward and the rear subframe set back it should be a almost perfect length. Thanks Boone, More than happy to talk through any ideas you have. Changed the steel cover plates for carbon fibre.
  7. Thanks Tore. The shocks are MCAs custom made here in Australia by ex Aus rally champ Murry Coote. Id say about 90% of the top motorsport teams here use them. Not just rally but also track and drift. This car is probably the cheapest ive build as ive collected most of the parts over the last 10 years in the sport. If someone came to me and said " I want you to build me this car from scratch" it would cost around $50,000. A major crash in any motor sport is always possible. Its just a risk we accept. Bonnet hinges fitted.
  8. Thank you both Rone and Simon. ID plates going back on. I really enjoy this detailing stuff.
  9. Front suspension going in.
  10. Engine bay painted.
  11. Thanks Stuart. No more rally for me this year. Ive blown the budget at the WRC Coffs this year. I would like to run the Celica at the Alpine but I think its a no turbo car event. Its the same problem with the ARC classics. They only allow cars up to group 4 at the moment. It would be great if the classic regs opened up to include Group B as well. The S1 Quattro and 6R4 Metro and 037 Lancer and RS200 and my Celica were all very popular at rally aus this year. Got some paint in the boot.
  12. Thanks Steve. Everything is moved back in the car. The extinguishers may look like they are hard to reach, but the seats are right back and the hand brake and the gear lever. The pedals are moved back and the steering colume is longer. Heard you had some fun at the last rally. Getting it ready for some paint. Got some underseal/ stone guard on.
  13. Dash vents are in as well as the blanking plate for the hole left by the master cylinder. Also changed the heater hose hole into efi fuel hose holes.
  14. Hi Keith. Yep, the cage would weight more than what has been removed. There is approx 24metres of cage been fitted. Not sure the weight, but the lengths were heavy enough. The Extinguishers are in and grabable "new word"? by both driver and nav while still strapped in the race seats. Who's Stanza was it and which rally did you compete?
  15. Alloy quarter panels in place.
  16. Thanks again snot. Inside paint is all but finished. Still have to paint the seat mounts when they are finished. Have to get steering and pedals in place to get final seat position.
  17. More painting.
  18. Started painting.
  19. Just windscreen sealer Snot. Its hard to seal the panel the way Mika suggested as there is gaps in the steel its being riveted to. Unless your keen to weld in filler plate to make a constant surface for the sealer to make contact. I agree, it would look better for a show car but this one is going to take a beating.
  20. They wont vibrate, can't really see it in the photo, the panels are not flat.
  21. Rear firewall sealed.
  22. Hi Mika, Yep, still have to fully seal it up. A flame and liquid proof barrier is what the regs require. And it will be. Silly thing is, there is no requirement to seal the inside of the C pillar. If the car is rolled onto its roof and there is a fuel leak, it runs up the inside the C pillar and ends up pooling on the roof under your head, not good if your trapped. I always like to seal the C pillar as well with expander foam. It wont stop fuel for long but it does slow it down and it stops the general fuel and exhaust fumes that seem to get into striped out race cars.
  23. I think its only there to stop the back seat falling into the boot. New alloy rear fire wall fitted.
  24. No, standard tank. Just removed for weight. The cage and rear firewall will more than make up for any strength that maybe lost.
  25. Rear firewall going in.
