Nice work Carlos. Will it have a green strip up the side? Getting ready for the new dash brace to mount the race dash panel.

Test fitted the seat, steering and pedals to ensure every thing clears before the final parts of roll cage go in.

I used to have one of those wheel aligners in my old workshop. Havent seen one used in many years. Corolla looks great. Is that the colour its going to be? Iam still deciding how to paint mine.

Hey Justin, Have you done a mock up of how the rear suspension will sit? eg, the angle of the A arms with the car at the ride height you want and the wheels and tyres your using. Being a lowered track car, you might be surprised at how high you will have to mount the sub frame to get things like traction and anti squat to work. Front struts now braced to the cage.

don't know of any other welded subframes. I do have a new set of poly bushes here if you want something stiffer than rubber. Fulcrum have a listing for them, but you need to ask for ma60 supra bushes. They are the same as ra65 celica.

Thanks Reed. Hi Mika. The small stub tube is a bit hard to explain why, I just felt the car needed it. Main reason is because the car now has rear strut towers transfering load into the rear fire wall. The Corolla steel is quite thin gauge, even with the 3mm plates, it just needed the load to be spread over a larger area to help reduce flex.

Yep, I know Stringy well. Yaraman was a great rally venue. Thanks Rob. I built it as a copy of the works safari cars which had 2 trip meters. I think they almost had 2 of everything fitted to keep the cars going during those African events.

Thanks Will. The quad bodies did'nt work very well, they caused more problems than improvements. So have remade the manifold with a single body from a 7mg cressida. Back on the dyno again on Monday for WRC at Coffs next week then round 3 2wd Rallymaster the weekend after. Iam looking forward to a break after that so I can make some progress on the 30.

The Celica is repaired, serviced, cleaned and preped ready to be loaded up for Rally Australia next week. We have been seeded car 7 in the Classics. Might even get 2 seconds of air time on tv if we are lucky.

Thanks for the kind words Rob. Iam running the celica in the classic section of the WRC in a few weeks. I did ask Tony at Bago if he was going to compete but he said no. It should be a great event, and for me, a once in a life time chance to compete in the same rally as the world champs. It will be great to run directly against people like Neal Bates and Ryan Smart and the rest in the ARC classics. Drivers briefing will be very surreal Cheers Craig.

Will you guys be ready for the Bago rally? Thats still a lot of work to finish. Craig.

New manifold finished and fitted and running. I now know why fitting quad throttle bodies to a turbo engine is not that popular.

Hey Stuart, We ran the Celica in the Seemore Stages Rally in 2011 as part of the 2wd rallymaster series. If they include a round in Vic next year, Id say we will be there in the Corolla. All those trailing A arm irs suspension have the same problem. Any one who has owned a pre VE Commodore with irs will know the inside edges of the rear tyres wont last long. The Celica and Dattos are the same but the toyota irs is a bit more robust. The best static wheel alignment setting is 0 camber at ride height and 6mm toe in for the celica and up to 10mm toe in for the datto. This is for racing, not road use. After years of running these irs in gravel rallies, I found setting them with POSITIVE camber works really well if the car is using a lot of wheel travel.

Glad to hear your not going into it blind Justin. Major suspension mods can be a real headache, and hard to change once its fully welded. Rone, The flares are my TA64 group b celica replica. I have the molds for the complete car if your thinking of building one. Thanks Kina, Those 2tg and 18rg covers car be ugly.
-
Thanks Justin. A 3sgte will really make it go. The main reason Ive fitted IRS is because it can work better than a live axle on gravel rallies. An adjustable 4 link live axle can give more traction and better grip if your using the car for track work, The corollas are so light, they will be fast anyway. Its all so hard to get a good lsd for the f series diff unless you intend to lock it up and the A arm irs suffers from extream camber gain if this lowered. Thats a bad thing. The RA65 rear is quite narrow. Ive used the x member from a soarer or cressida. Its 50mm wider track and the A arms and diff are the same. Just need the longer drive shafts. Sorry if this has made you rethink things. Interested to hear your ideas. Cheers Craig.

Not much to report on the ke30 yet. Still getting the new motor for Celica finished. Its taking longer than expected. Ive borrowed the throttle bodys I bought for the Corolla for a new intake on the Celica. But its a lot more involved to fabricate than I thought it would be. Once the Celica is running again, It will be full on to get the Corolla finished to start next years rally season. Check out the 4 plug 3tgte turbo tappet cover on the 2tg head.

Hi Phil. There is a link to the build thread for the celica on page 1 of this thread. I have the homoligation papers here for the ta64 rally celica, and Iam building this new motor as close as poss to the specs of the real 4tgte rally engine. There is all so some in car footage on utube of this car under, Group B Celica @.
