  1. So you recon if i fit weber that might help?
  2. no probs heres the vid of it idling
  3. Hey guys I been playing with the motor a bit. Its a 4K, slight port job, harder springs. I just put new rings on it and gave it a hone. I put a cam in it, The specs are; Kelford CE695. Duration 266 (inlet and exhaust). Timing at 015 Inlet opens 28 closes 56, exaust opens 56 closes 28. Inlet Fully open 105 ATDC, Lobe centres 105. I set the cam by standard markings. I'm running aisan carb (stock). I don't have tach but it feels like the car pulls strong just after1500-2000 rpm. Clean and smooth. However below that it runs really crap. I played with timing setting and idle adjuster screw and cleaned the carb jets etc etc. My question is, is it a tuning issue that could be dialled out with weber 32 36 for example or is it just the cam being lumpy.
  4. Hahaha no one will buy it, Its a piece of rusty crap :)
  5. well got everything in. Car is running ok, I got about 10 degrees advance on the dizzy. Pulls really hard from about 2000 rpm but doesnt wanna run below that. I'm pretty sure its carby. I think I will give it a celan again tomorow. Untitled by k.ivoutin, on Flickr Untitled by k.ivoutin, on Flickr Untitled by k.ivoutin, on Flickr And here is a video of it idle (lumpy)
  6. Last few days I managed to take out the motor, replaced piston rings and gave the bores a hone. replaced con rod caps. I found that 3 out of 4 pistons had cracked rings! Untitled by k.ivoutin, on Flickr Untitled by k.ivoutin, on Flickr Untitled by k.ivoutin, on Flickr I was surprised how good the original pistons were, i just cleaned them up a little with wire brush and they were good to go again! 7. Thanks alot guys!
  8. Hey guys. I just put in a new cam into 4k. Any advice how to set cam timing? There are no marks?
  9. Ok thanks guys
  10. Haha. It's ke55 4k 4speed. If I take it out with box do I have to take off the cross member that runs between the headlights ?
  11. Hey guys. I want to take out the motor to put new rings in. Is it better to disconnect the tail shaft and take out the gearbox and then winch the motor out . Or is it better to support the gearbox with a Jack and lift up the motor
  12. i took it apart when i was rebuilding my carb. Inside is a plate that bends with heat. When it bends it opens a valve that opens an air passage that links top and bottom of carburetor. So i recon it gives more idle speed when air temp is hot.
  13. Guys whats the way to remove the motor? Is it easier to separate the box and then lift motor out or wiggle to motor out and support the gearbox with a jack or remove motor and gearbox at the same time.
  14. Here is another update for those who care. The head got a sticky valve so I decided to rebuild the motor. Double valve springs. New guides, seals. corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr Port match to the gasket profile. corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr Shaved head, not sure how much I told him one mm. corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr Heres the young apprentice thats been helpin out corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr cleaned up the starter and contacts inside (brushes are bit worn :/ ) corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr clean the carb and new gaskets etc. corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr polished venturi and venturi body got rid of casting marks, also took out the choke shaft corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr hares the carb all cleaned up :) corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr cleaned up the intake manifild, got rid of casting marks etc smoothed out the bumps corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr new piston rings will go in soon ( need to borrow a motor hoist) and a new stage 2 cam (waiting on that in the mail) corolla rebuild by k.ivoutin, on Flickr
  15. Try cleaning the jetts and all passages inside the carby perhaps.
  16. Will petrol eat up the turbo seals? Another thing is that petrol mist might collect on the polished turbine blades and pool into droplets. That would decrease efficiency (the reason why you should never polish the inlet ports). Maybe rough up the blades with sand paper?
  17. Anyone know if there is a place? Nothing on internet
  18. Well the story is; I got a job working away 4 weeks at a time, I had two cars. A 1995 honda civic, and Project Rust Bucket. So my friend just came back from living in Indonesia for 3 years and was looking for cheap car. I thought well i don't need 2 cars so I sold him the Rust Bucket. Then when I was away I thought how stupid that was. So I got back and we swaped my honda civic for rust bucket. The civic by the way was mechanically perfect and had air con and all luxuries! Haha everyone thought I was mad swapping and good civic for the rust heap. But here I am, and here she is. Lost that job now too :(
  19. haha compression is 190psi! but it smokes from breather and smokes when u rev it too :/
  20. Yeah its lookin heaps better mate. I actually sold the car for 800 buks, then bought it back! I really missed that old rust bucket. Heres what it looks like now. my corolla by k.ivoutin, on Flickr my corolla by k.ivoutin, on Flickr my corolla by k.ivoutin, on Flickr
  21. Yes Banjo absolutely! That is what I meant, take the head off, take the sump off, undo the big ends then push the piston and conrod up. Yes head reconditioning is also part of the program! And yes if the pistons are ok a hone would be required. The reason I think its the rings is because when the motor warms up it stats to blow smoke from crank case breather. Am I right to assume that would be piston rings to blame? Thanks.
  22. Engine is a lil smoky, Is it possible to get the pistons in n out from the sump underneath the car?
  23. set the points gap, and replaced the coil, seems to be a lot better thanks
  24. Hey guys, Got a Ke55 with stok 4K. It has a problem with acceleration while on primary throat. Its not smooth and jerks around and farts a bit then once the secondaries kick in all good to the redline. I took the carb apart and cleaned it all out, blew out the passages and the jets as much as i could, fitted new float valve, some new gaskets etc. still does it. Any ideas welcome. Thanks
