  1. Go the turtle! I own an AL25 (84 model) tercel and its a fantastic little car... His name is Little Winston. I had an AE95 4wd a few years ago as my daily driver. They really are incredibly versatile and useful. Heaps of room, comfortable to drive long distances and the 4wd gets you to all the good fising spots and secluded beaches, camping spots etc... awesome car. I was soooo pissed off when it got rear ended and written off.... word of warning though.... the driveline can be broken easily if you try to drive it like a racecar/landcruiser and the gearshift linkages can get sloppy and often need replacing.
  2. Hmmm.... this seems to be a reccurring theme... most accessory shops get confused when you ask for anything that can't be fitted to a lancer coupe... :P
  3. And apparently the entire sociology department
  4. rubber mounts can deteriorate with time as well as abuse, regardless of kilometres Also you seem to be missing a few letters on your keyboard. I suggest buying a new one before I ring your english teacher and tell him he's done a shithouse job and you need to repeat grade 3.
  5. The shifting problem is common in the the 4wd.... the cable linkages need adjusting/replacing. (I've had to do this before) As for the thunk... its got me buggered but I'd probably assume an engine or gearbox mount, or at worst the the rwd drive chain in the trasfer case may be jumping a link... $$$ if thats the case....
  6. Thats a fantastic deal.... you've done well
  7. Dude... I've owned several. I own one now. They're 13's. 14" alloys were optional on gti and seca models. 14" steelies became standard in the late 90's. Regardless, they will all have the same overall diameter as the 14's are a lower profile tyre. Overerall diameter only changed (marginally) with the zze's and 15" steelies. whack em on
  8. Yep... they should fit and shouldn't affect the speedo... both have 13"x5 steelies as standard... 4x100 pcd
  9. Earthed properly?
  10. For sale: Toyota 3k motor. Suit rebuild. :)
  11. they look like SLR5000 flares
  12. Seriously dude... go drive something made in europe worth over 50 grand. The difference isn't so much what you can define on paper... its the whole car. Its the higher quality of materials used in construction. Nicer plastics in the interior. tight, precise switchgear. more comfortable seats. ergonomic driving postition. smooth snicky gearshift. woodgrain trim that actually looks like wood. fantastic brakes. soft leather. low NVH level. awesome factory stereo. the glovebox and doors don't go "guh-doongk" when you close them.... they go "shnick".... I could go on forever.... Toyotas are great. They do everything they're built to do and they do it efficiently, reliably and cost effectively. But seriously.... spend the extra and you'll realise what you paid for.
  13. Nah on second thoughts.... f@$k it all. Tell him to get a lexus hybrid.
  14. Cos after you've driven a top-end VW, the new camry/corolla range reeks of "budget" I mean I really dig the toyotas... I'll swear black and blue that they make the best cars in the world and I'll give you a million good reasons to back my case but honestly, if I was in a position to buy a brand new car I'd part with the extra 10-15 g's and get something a little bit shwankier. having said that though... my GTi was both the most well built yet wholly unremarkable car I've ever owned. To paraphrase the venerable mr. paul keating: "the experience was not unlike being flogged with a warm lettuce". It also liked to eat bits of itself with alarming regularity. Personally I think it had a "thing" going with the hoist at the dealership cos it liked to spend more time there than with me. Ps... the passat gives me the shits cos with all the electronic gizmology in it, you may as well not be driving the bloody thing at all.... just push a button, say "home", and have a little nap while it takes you there. BMW ftw. End rant, Yay for hydrogen.
  15. I'm more worried about them having me killed actually.... I know too much!
  16. I'll second the stabbing... ( I think that makes me an accessory ) Still waiting for some knuckle dragging telstra tech to upgrade my exchange so I can get ADSL...... grrr!
  17. Hey thanks for the stud related info guys.... turns out the wheels looked better on the GF's mazda so she's claimed them. Oh well off I go to fetch another set.... fiddle de dee...
  18. Get a new prepaid sim and port your old number to it...
  19. the current setup uses a standard 4wd battery with heaps of amps... I think with the regenerative braking I'm going to pair it with a deep cycle golf cart battery and some tricky voltage regulation and automatic charging/switching the prius uses regen braking.... its f@$king genius actually... difference is its all computer-managed. (and no hydrogen obviously) I'm hoping to eventually go complete computer control... jusst gotta get someone a LOT smarter than me to build the interface for the laptop and write the program with all the algorythms etc... bloody complicated
  20. Yeah that was only to get out of paying you for washing her car... boooyah! :jamie:
  21. Yes. I currently have a very small setup running a clapped out 4 stroke lawnmower engine. Nothing mobile, the whole system is a collection of containers and tubing, car batteries, dodgey wiring and an old alternator sitting on a bench but it IS working. Its not terribly efficient and it does lose a small amount of water over time as well as slowly draining the batteries but I'm hoping to overcome those problems once I transfer the system into an operating vehicle by using regenerative braking and more airtight components.
  22. My mum says I'm handsome....
  23. duh... I'm such a retard. I even posted in that thread. In fact it convinced me to turn up some spigot rings....
  24. Frikkin perfect dude... That didn't come up when I searched... wikkid.
  25. yeah... using barrel nuts would mean I'd have to drill out the lug holes on the wheels... and me and 'ol mr. ryobi aren't that accurate. Looks like a trip to toyota to rifle through the parts bins. I was trying to avoid that scenario, I used work in spare parts and the interpereters get really flustered and turn funny colours when you confront them with something they can't instantly look up on disc or microfiche :jamie:
