Wow now that is a lot of info to take in. Thanks heaps guys. Much appreciated. So basically I want to opt for the 22 spline gearbox. So if I was to go to say pick n payless or even ichiban etc. what exactly would I ask for. Would it be best just asking for a jdm box to make the search easy and the conversion less painful. If I was to ask for the jdm box would it be a straight bolt on to the engine, with no mods at all.

Sweet thankyou soooooo much. That helps me alot. So is it better to just source out a t50 box. What do they come out of.

Ok. I need a bit of help. I have finally got my 4age home and I have begun tinkering with it and the parts that I have. I bought a 2tg engine ages ago and a gearbox came with it. The guy I bought it off said that the 2tg had the same block as the 4age. Turns out he was very wrong. Anyway, the gearbox that came with it has a bit of work, like short shifter and a slight rebuild so I don't want to waste it. Now, the question is this. If I was to sort out a T50 gearbox bellhousing would it bolt onto the gearbox from the 2tg. Just to quickly pop it into this thread, if anyone has one please PM me. Another question is this. What gearbox do I actually have. It came straight off a 2tg. It is a 5 speed box, and another way of identifying it is the following. It has a hydraulic clutch. All of the gears including reverse are in their usual spots. Only thing is that to actually get into reverse you have to pull the gearstick up and then place it into reverse. It has a little lockout pictured below. So if anyone could help me out with this situation it would be much appreciated. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/ols...olla/cutout.jpg

That is one hot car. Seems to me like it just keeps on getting better and better. Bloody oath. I am still gawking at it hey. If you are going to summernats, I will probably see you there. We can be KE55 buddys. Probably the only two aswell. Last year I think there was a KE36 wagon or something, it was pretty cool. Yet again credit to your car. Another thing, I have never seen a corolla that dumped on 15's. My rolla is sitting on the bumpstops and aint as low as that. Did you cut yours and get the leaves reset. I have fallen in love with the stance, the colour, the car. :'( :( :(

To tell you the truth I have never ever liked the square headlight front ends, I used to see them and cringe in disgust. Something about yours changes my views. You really have done an awesome job. Credit to you mate. Those simmons fill the guards ten times better than those other rims too. The car is a perfect example of what they all should look like.

did you get the whole diff or is it possible to buy centres for the standard corolla diff. If you opted for a whole new diff what was it
-
Yeah it would make it a awesome car to drive I must say, I just don't know how easy it would be to set it up using the leaf springs. Also don't know what the ratio would be like for a 4AGE. The 4AGE that I got I just found out that it has a port and polished head, adjustable cam gears and the only thing I WILL have to replace are the piston rings. I was though thinking of getting high performance pistons for it but don't know who would sell them. I just really gotta get all me parts and then I will be happy. :P ;)

I will keep you all updated on how the strut conversion goes, you had to shorten the diff didnt you and how did that fit the diff in still using the leaf springs. easy or what. I was thinkin of using a t-18 diff but skyline limo sounds awesome
-
It is a smallport 4AGE, it has a port and polished head, adjustable cam gears, just need to replace piston rings, it has full wiring harness and loom and standard ecu. Where is a good place to be sourcing out those sorta gearboxes. Also, I am sorry for bringing this up but I am new to forums and I was just trying to get a little help, sorry for making you repeat yourself. thanks anyway though much appreciated ;) :P

I have front struts from my brothers car. It is a bit harder to do but if they arent taller than the corolla struts then I will definitely be using them. It is different but they are Skyline front struts. They have vented discs standard and aftermarket parts will be easy to get. May be hard but 100% worth it.

Het, mad cars guys. Well done all of you. Love the ke 70 centre console thingy in JIP 01. Great Idea. There really is minimal space to put stuff like phone and wallet. You culd put phone in glove box but its too far away and there aint any room in the little pocket behind the gear stik. Basically all your cars though would have to be illegally loud, with straight thrus to a cannon. How do you get away with it. Oh and I will get some more pics of my KE55 on. I got some of the interior.

I am guessing that this is an old conversion by now but that is why I have decided to ask the experts. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a simple straightforward list of what I will need. I have the engine, celica 5 speed, and front struts. What sort of diff would be advisable, fuel pump etc. thanks for any help
-
I would have to agree that it is a cheap deal. Seems like a steal to me. The only thing that I have against it is that for that cheap anything could be wrong. I would rather do a conversion my self than attempt to trust someone I don't know. That way when somthing goes wrong I will be able to identify the problem easier. Dunno, cause on the other hand it could be the deal of someones life.

Yep thats the ones. They are pretty deep dish on the rear too which is cool. I just got new Falken front tyres and the car handles like crazy now. It is really fun to drive especially down macquarie pass. :) :D
-
Thats good. Yeah the wheels are really wide too. I think they are 6 or 6and a half inch wide on the front and 7 inch wide on the rear. The fronts are wearing 195/50 and rear are 205/50. They are dragway rims by the way.

Yeh man I will b your friend. thanks for the comments. Hey are the pics still workn o your end cause one of the guys said they arent. I will get some pics up of my interior soon too. what about you, you got any pics I can see. The exhaust however you may not be super surprised with. I did it at home, I just cut out the muffler, welded in a flange and then replaced it with a hotdog and put that tip on. I wasn't intending on doing anything yet but I will when I get the conversion done. It sounds bloody awesome though. I will be keeping that tip and everything though when I do the proper exhaust.
-
Thats what I am headn for, like I said before, I got the 4AGE and celica box, but I need to get the suspension etc done too. I have a dummy car down the back which I can dummy up the struts in and modify what is needed and then just put them in on a weekend when they definitely fit. I effectively wana do evrythin I can and continue to drive it before the actual engine conversion. Wanna leave that til last. Know of a good place to buy RA60 struts up front.
-
thanks a lot. Here is another two pics. The car used to be owned by an old lady, She had the full respray in the original colour, but 2-pac. The interior hasn't got a scratch or crack. It even has grommets for fish oiling. The headlights have the little gauze pads too. The car had only done 103000 kays, and it is still running like a beauty. I finished the car off with the rims, lowering, stereo and exhaust. I also put a wood grain steering wheel on and the little side view mirrors. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/ols...la/P1010039.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/ols...la/P1010037.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k209/ols...la/P1010042.jpg
