  1. thanks guys, has been a while since ive been on this site, Wagon is going strong, sporting some retro hoshino racing wheels, wave if you see it round brisbane
  2. Hey guys I'm just wondering if there is any advantage to using ADM AE86 front struts in an AE71. Is there any improvement over the standard front struts? i just have a spare set on front ae86 struts wondering if i should use them in my ae71 wagon. cheers :y:
  3. thanks guys, yea shes just a daily driver that i give a bit of a boot too, i thought she might have been getting a little bit warmer than normal, which was resulting in a little pinging, due to something with the water system but it seems to be stable arround the 85-90 degree mark now, however it is FKN cold at the moment so I'm wondering how it will be in summer. cheers everyone.
  4. Hey everyone, I have been thinking of rigging up an AE92 oil cooler setup onto my 20v AE71 wagon. I have read that some people think they are shit and i should get a full flow aftermarket kit, but I'm trying to save money. What are your thoughts on these cooler setups? Are there many 4age KE70/AE71's getting arround with this setup?. I have the sandwich plate and a sump with the oil return, and saw plenty of coolers at the wreckers. just have to adapt the oil return fitting onto a 20v sump. any suggestions a apprecatied. Cheers.
  5. The back of the plenum has been cut off just short of the brake booster and clutch master...just, then a pipe was welded onto the front. Also inside the plenum are four little suction tubes that curve down into the bottom of the plenum, we had to cut the back one really short to make it fit. My plan is to keep the engine stock standard for a long while so this was the way to go for me. this photo is old, ill upload some newer ones to give you all a better look.
  6. Thanks allot everyone, i will put up some pics of the interior later on , i have re done it in black. The wheels i got are 2nd hand, i picked them up on AE86DC for $600. They are called SSR "Speed Star" or i have heard people calling them "Superfins". They are 15x7 with 0 offset so they sit just perfectly. However i have to get my front guards rolled or flared as they scrub on corners. Also I'm in the process of upgrading the fuel system to an EFI set up. Currently i only have an inline pump and suffer fuel surges. Once that is done then i have to get the rear leaf springs reset and that should be about it. Cheers
  7. thanks mate, i still have the 4ac sittin on the floor of the shed, however i just bought an ADM sprinter with a 4ac, and its running really crap and has a crack in the tappet cover so I'm thinking of scavenging parts from it. Cheers though. Next project after the next. check it
  8. hey everyone. thought i might update my thread. Heres the wagon with my new wheels, and on the road.
  9. thanks for your input eveyone, sounds like i was being a little hopefull, i havent had the wagon on the road long and i love it, i feel like i could beat anything  thanks for bring me back to reality. i will leave the 20v stock for my daily driver and wait until my rb26/30 hybrid is finished, that should do the trick :P
  10. haha thanks everyone, yea its a turbo, on paper the specs are not too much different, CA18DET HP: 173hp@6400rpm 4age 20V silvertop 160 @ 7400 he smashed me allready but i had no tacho, so didnt nearly get up it. got the good jump off the line though hehe. Next time ill rev it right out, since the corolla is the underdog its not so bad being beaten, but i would love to see his face passing him in the wagon lol. maybe if i take out my rear seats and drill speed holes?
  11. well ive got a 4age 20v under the hood, its running the standard computer and i don't really want to spend any money working that yet. I'm really just trying to get it to beat my mates ca18 180sx without going to the step of a new ECU and crap ($$$) . Cheers everyone.
  12. cheers, do you think it would be worth changing from a 4.1 to a 4.3 to achieve a quicker 0-100 time or should i look elsewhere for performance?
  13. trueeeee,, any idea which cars came with a 4.3?
  14. cheers mate, this was my original thought, thanks for clearing that up .
  15. Hey guys , I have an AE71 wagon and a KE70 wrecker car. My ae71 has a 4.1 ratio diff and my KE70 wrecker has a 3.9. Which diff will give me more low end power, and i am now running 15 inch mags on my wagon, would changing to the lower ratio diff improve the accuracy of my speedo ? . Cheers everyone
  16. cunny funts i was thinking the same kinda thing by making a false floor where the back seat is so it has more of a tray in the back. ill give it a shot. peace
  17. thanks allot guys. 12 points should be enough to test the theory
  18. Hey guys. I am keen to take the rear seats out of my wagon. I have toyota Tercel seats in the front at the moment, (by the way they are a cheap easy to install replacement seat with a metal bottom |blink| ) I cannot fold my wagon rear seats down because of the front seats. I'm just wondering if it is legal to pull them out or weather i have to register it as 2 passengers or something. Cheers
  19. hey everyone, I recently aquired an australian, 1983 sprinter. I am wondering how hard it is to change the rear drum brakes to discs? Cheers Mark
  20. Nice mate, I'm keen to know more, and what you have done with your fuel. I currently have what i think is a fuel delivery problem, I'm using an external in line pump and have swapped the fuel send and return lines to make the send the larger one. When i back off it seems to shudder sometimes like a fuel surge or something. Also when its cold it has a miss, when i touch the accelerator then it seems fine. for example when the car is cold and i start it, when i go to give it a little bit of throttle to help it start it will miss for a second then rev up. This is annoying because if i need to give it some revs to help it start it will stall. If anyone has any ideas let me know.
  21. haha cheers mate, gave it a respray, it used to be my grand dads car so its got some family history, i got carried away i guess. Itl be a great daily driver with lots of fun added! is that yours in your display pic with the 4aGE?
  22. cheers everyone, looks like i have allot more reading to do. My dad is good with welders and stuff so I'm in luck there. i think i read somewhere that whiteline make a wagon rear swaybar? i cannot seem to find it on their website at the moment. heres some more pics while i go do my research. Thanks everyone for your help
  23. Hey everyone, my wagon is now built and on the road, it goes well other than a few teething problems. the next big task is tuning the suspension as it currently handles like a boat. I have done some research but i am new to this so i am a little unsure on what to buy. i read in an earlier post in the AE discussion which provided some good info but its about a sedan. i have a new set of munroe GT gas shocks and 3cm lowerd king springs in the front but i will replace them all if a new set up is needed. If someone could reccomend a shop in ipswich or brisbane who is good with corollas that would be great. and any other advice you might have about my suspension would be appreciated aswell. Heres some pics of my 20v wagon
  24. Hey everyone. My project is an AE71 station wagon with a 4age 20valve silvertop. It is allmost ready to be registerd and it was running. I drove it onto the car trailer to take it to the painters, and when we got there it would not start to drive off. It turns over but wont start. A mechanic and autoelec have checked it out and it appears that the standard AFM has gone, does anyone have one they would like to sell? and also any body know of any other AFM that can be used? the car has been sitting arround for a while now, and I'm very keen to get it on the road. heres some pics, (old pics, the only ones i have at the moment) Thanks , Mark
