  1. Hey Rob, at this stage I'd say NO!! To much stuff left to do, but i could be down there any how with an S2000 VW polo I service for, if so come over and say hi. chris
  2. Yeah i was surprised when i first used it how good it hung on. Now i use it on anything that needs stuck down. The mesh on the stone tray of our rally car is held on using it, as well as the roof vent. Fantastic stuff!!
  3. This sounds dodgy, but Selleys liquid nails!!! It's cheaper than sikaflex and once it drys(24 hrs)it's hangs on!!
  4. From these guys. http://www.probolt-australia.com/
  5. Didn't think we got a lot done this weekend but looking back we have. Finished the wiring around the front of the car, which includes the thermo fan, horn, indicators and park lights. Mounted the oil cooler, thermo fan relay and bolted up the earths for the driving light relays. Tony deburred the block all ready to go to the machine shop on Monday, along with the crank, rods, pistons, flywheel, pressure plate and rocker covers(small welding job to be done). Forged pistons. Thermo fan relay wiring done! Pressure plate (mmmm)
  6. this might help as well!!! Toyota.Carina.E.1992_1997.Haynes.Service.and.Repair.Manual.pdf
  7. Yeah, we have a quaife rack with AE86 pwr steer arms. The rack isn't that old, i think it done one event before we pulled the car apart. Tony said it took a little to get use to it. But the sprinter arms have been in there since 1998. Lock isn't that bigger deal, probably how quick you get the lock would be more important for us and how less you have to work, saying that, it does have excellent lock. How's yours coming along? Sorry to hear about your engine dramas, but it sounds like you've got it sorted now. One last thing!! we need more pic's. ;)
  8. Sorry Jimi, only have the TRD uprite parts info. you would need to find someone who has one in bits to get the measurements. The base plate for the inlet manifolds would be the hardest info to find i think. Have just looked at the shit i have, and i must have photocopied the base plate years ago, and i still have it. Unfortunately my scanner isn't big enough to copy it.
  9. Hey mate, yip it was all done with a mig, wire buffed first, (heated up with propane Jane if there was any sealant) then welded. Then ground back (most of the time) to reduce the size and weight of the weld. Bastard of a job!!!! Oh and the old car was a screamer, I love avgas!!!
  10. Very little got done this weekend as Tony had to work Saturday and I needed to get my shit box looked at. Thanks to Craig(Steerfast in Towoomba) the Navara now doesn't make noises in the front end and it steers dead straight. Found that Nissan hadn't tightened up the camber adjustment bolts!!!!!! Anyhow we dropped the corolla onto it's wheels so we could have a clean up. Packed the old TRD engine away, hopefully she'll live to see another day! Fuel pump banjo's turned up along with some special bolts, hoping to start on the engine next week. Just need to clean up the inside of the block, remove any castings dags so it can then go to the machine shop and get bored and surfaced, while there, all the reciprocating components will be balanced. Still lots to do!! Note the guard dog, she maybe full of puppies!!
  11. Yes there is, but Australia never got it!! It came out in a KE70 in Malaysia with a 5k. After market head gaskets are ok, just don't forget to re-torque the head!!!
  12. This has most of the info you need!!! 5K_spec__s.pdf Dave, any spec's that has degrees in it (relating to bolts), the bolts are yield strength, which means they are suppose to be one use only!! Didn't think 4age's had yield strength bolts, mmm, interesting!!!
  13. This really sounds like you have your cam timing out, DON'T believe what you are seeing on the crank pulley. Pull off the crank pulley and use the timing mark on the crank gear to check your timing(TDC mark). Don't use your cam gears either as a reference, you need to start at the crank mark and work from there!!! The crank pulley(harmonic balancer) can slip as it has a rubber insert. good luck
  14. The diff is finally in the car, brake lines have been connected. Just waiting for the bushes for the top arms to arrive and they'll be finished. Steering rack has been rebuilt, didn't really need a lot, just a change of housing cause the old one had a dint in it. And the wiring continues, finished off mounting the relays for the rally 2000's and have started running the wiring for the headlights, parkers, indicators, and engine fan. Have ordered the banjo fittings for the fuel pump and the sandwich plate for the oil cooler should be here this week.
  15. There's a whole heap of stuff, it just depends how carried away you want to get with it and how much money you want to spend? We have gone to the extreme of using alloy bolts in places!!! Look at hole sawing the frame in the boot and bonnet if you don't want to fiberglass one up. On the inside there's a heap of brackets that don't do shit, remove them!! Take every second bolt out that holds the guards on, just be careful not to remove too many bolts!!
  16. Hey Mitch, The ADM had side intrusion bars and the JDM's didn't. That's probably the biggest difference, apart from the bumpers on the earlier JDM ones, they had small chrome bars, unlike the ADM, they all had poly bars with heavy steel reinforcement. The later JDM's also ended up with these heavier bars. There is a lot of minor stuff also!!!
  17. Yeah, it was 800kgs in full rally trim. NO fiberglass panels were on the car at that stage. But that was a JDM KE70, not an ADM one so it was lighter.
  18. Stupid question, but have you checked the cam timing? It's fairly simple to do on a 4age, just pull the top cam cover off, line up TDC mark on the crank and see if the cam marks line up. MR2_AW_1988_REPAIRMANUAL.pdf
  19. Well not much further forward today. Almost have the driving lights, starter, and alternator wiring sorted and run. Have mounted the steering column, so i know where to run wires to. Thinking I should have cleaned it first!! :) Tony has finished the lower arms and is just waiting for the paint to dry before fitting them.
  20. well i did nothing on the car yesterday, but have started to mount all the electrics today. The idea is to mount all the electrics and then run the cables, saves over cabling the car. Tony has finished the bushes and spaces for the lower control arms and dummy fitted them today. Dash frame all cleaned and painted LCA's dummy fitted. Starting of the driving light wiring.
  21. Thanks Mr Yoda!! Will try to keep up the good work. Today the TRD valve springs turned up along with a reduction drive starter, that'll be pulled down and reco'd. more updates this weekend!!
  22. There is NO pleasing some people!!!!!
  23. Catch tank has turned up, will be fitted in the weekend. Very nice!!
  24. Lower control arms are all most completed, welded in the housings and then tony cleaned and painted them, ready for the spherical's to be fitted. Just have to make the inserts to push against the bush and they'll be finished. Finished the Hyd handbrake today, had to modify a copper washer, so that's all done. Connected the clutch pedal and fitted the alloy pedal plate to the pedal. Had to remove the radiator to cut of the trans cooler lines, obviously not needed. So it's now on to the wiring, oh what fun that'll be!!
  25. i thought it was T1 and E1 you short?? Could be wrong, it's been awhile.
