  1. he said 165hp, but how much torque???? i'd be thinking f@$k ALL.
  2. My Starlet EFI manual has turned up from the US and it is a GENUINE toyota repair manual and it's like new, has everything including ALL the efi stuff, from fault codes to pin outs and everything in between. if you need anything scanned off just PM me. :P
  3. that would so big if you come to AUS. your girl friend (wife) would love it as well. she'd get to meet your other family.
  4. Another corolla saved, and what a fantastic job he's doing.he's even got his wife in on the act. don't like the transmission idea but i can understand why.
  5. i don't know if this will help, but when i had my starlet in Nz i put a ke70 diff centre into it. now jap ke70's only came out with 3.9 ratio but the later toyota tercel had a KE70 diff under it, with a ratio of 3.7 or 3.5, now the housing won't bolt into a Ke70 as the mounts are in a different place, we know this because we have a diff centre sitting here, 3.7 i think. this all came about looking for a way to fix our axle snapping problems.
  6. well i've managed to read all of the shit about drifting been faster around a race track and all i can say is try drifting in a race and see where you end up.
  7. pull the spark plugs out and the alloy tube and there should be an "o" ring type seal on it. replace the "O" rings and put a little sealant on them and put them back in.
  8. does anyone in Brisbane know how to fix Video cameras. we know whats wrong with it sort of. we have rally rockhampton coming up and would like to beable to video some of it. cheers
  9. Suzuki JWRC car has a dog box with a flat change setup that would kill any auto, and you didn't have to use the clutch, shift time .2 milliseconds. 6 speed Sequential, i'd love one for the corolla. it'd put an erection on a jellyfish. :)
  10. could be a dry alternator,or water pump bearing. Twincam?? could be cam belt idler bearing.
  11. we do have the right axles, the diff we brought has a trd LSD. That now makes 2xAE86 TRD LSD's and one JDM KE70 TRD LSD. your one stop TRD shop :D how was that for good luck. :) the T-18 flange will bolt up, the problem is finding one with replaceable U/J's, because we use a one piece tailshaft we have to beable to change the flange over and not the whole drive shaft. apparently the T-18 has 2 or 3 drive shafts, it's just trying to find the right one.
  12. i've done some fibreglassing years ago, but i can teach you how to TIG weld, if your interested give me a call sometime.
  13. i'll never beable to look at Rob the same way after seening those photos. :)
  14. yip spot on. Zenki is the small spline 24, and Kouki is the large spline 25. Tony tells me that if you fit a TRD LSD to a diff with Kouki axles, you do have to machine 5mm off the ends of the axles, check out club4age.com, has more info about this. does anyone know what Australian driveshaft flange bolts up to a JDM AE86 diff???
  15. there are more than 3 types of axles for T-series diff's, this is mainly in the length of the axle, but there's spline and bearing differences also. a T-series LSD will NOT fit a KE70 Japanese or Australian. As for putting a TRD LSD into a T-series diff, if it's the right LSD for that diff there's no problem. Zenki and Kouki refer to AE86 axles only, early and late, and the splines are 24 and 25. david: the AE86 disc brake diff will bolt straight in, the only thing to change is the drive shaft flange, make sure if you buy one of these diff's it has the hand brake cables with it.
  16. where do you find this shit???
  17. try, www.leaveusalone.com
  18. it was that cold this morning when i left the house, our dog Suzie was under the blanket on the couch.
  19. good decision, :P you'll be rewarded woth an engine that won't suffer from oil surge.
  20. you have to allow for the rolling Circumference of the tyre as well. i think!!!!
  21. Tell me about it... Thats most of the guys at work... i try my hardest to treat every car i work on as if it was my own... but when you get supervisors saying NO THAT TAKES TOO LONG JUST DO THIS (dodgie way)... pisses me off.. What I've come to realise is there's dickheads like that no matter what industry you're in. I handle the fruit&veg at my work and my boss often says "no" when I go to throw out fruit or veg that is just old and gross that I wouldn't want to eat myself. His mind is on the money, my mind is on customer satisfaction. That said, he is a neatness freak and I am not. Either way, no matter where you go there are going to be annoying people, dickheads and idiots. In no particular order. I guess there is more chance to find alcaholic bogans in the automotive industry? The other say I was seasoning chickens and not serving the counter and these two bogans came to the counter and one said "nah mate he can't serve he's fingering chickens... fingerin em... fingering the chickens..." he went on like that for a bit and it was really disturbing. I don't want to work with people like that. i know that seams a bit of a generalization, but i've been in this industry a long time and Unfortunately i've only met a few good mechanics. i agree that you get the good and the bad in any trade, but most of the mechanics i've met don't seam to care about the quality of work they produce, and these guys are training the next lot of Apprentice's.
  22. yip we do own these plates, brought them back in 1988 for $330, they were on our rally car in NZ(KE70) for about 5 years and then they were on a starlet for another 2 years and then finally put on to the rally car we have now. sorry NOT FOR SALE :(( out standing photos, love your work.
  23. to drift a 3k you need to be producing some serious HP and torque for a 1200cc engine. forget the tosco tuning as most of the parts are no longer Available and what you can get will cost you too much money. buy a 5k or 4AGE or something like that.
  24. i agree with jamie, ultimate is the best, we've tried all the others. from a motorsport point of view, we only use BP ultimate, everything else(a part from ELF) is shit for rallying(when i say motorsport i mean anything that is governed by cams). BRING BACK AVGAS!!!!!
  25. here's a couple of links that show you what they look like inside, the general idea is to stop the oil moving away from the pickup. sump 1 sump 2 sump 3 i haven't got any picture's of our sump, it'll be different because it's an upright. some points when making a baffled sump: you want oil to flow into the pickup area not out, so angle the plates towards the pickup. don't make the area around the oil pickup to large or to small. don't fully weld the baffle, mine is bolted in so it can be removed if the sump needs cleaned.
