Thanks Rian, front guards are the next on the list to fiberglass, trying to get a little more weight out of the front.

More goodies arrived today, swapping out the steel nuts that hold the tail lights in with Alloy nyloc nuts. Also changing the bolts that hold the door panels on, to black alloy dome cap screws, they'll look better with the carbon fibre and you won't catch yourself on the bolt.

Started some of the repairs and updates to the body. The lower rear panel is being replaced with a fiberglass panel, sick of having to repair the steel one. Should be a lot easier to just bolt on a new panel when it gets damaged, plus it's lighter!! Tony has started on a fiberglass rear spoiler, again lighter than the plastic one that is on there now, also if it gets damaged, easier to just glass another up than trying to find another spirit wing. Stripped the boot out to repaint it after the jack cames loose and chipped all the paint.

oil pressure relief valve on the oil pump maybe stuck open, that will cause low oil pressure.

We got a little mention. http://www.rallyspor...d=6723&Itemid=2

Didn't realize it sounded that good, apart from the hi rpm miss!!

http://youtu.be/cjROoPb8aiY Incar from one of the runs, and yes that is water on the inside of the windscreen, looks as if the windscreen seal didn't adhere.

Well the Corolla has finished it's first event, yay!! Thanks to Justin(medince man) for helping out. Congrat's to TRD(tony) on a fantastic drive, some very stiff competition from a 20v AE1**, but the little 70 walked away with 1st in class (1600cc), 5th outright and first 2wd. Admin's, can we move this back to rides NOW?
-
Thanks Ash, yip it's been quite an effort. Well the new bonnet and boot are on the car, yes fiberglass and very, very lite. the car must weigh about 780kg's at a guess now, find out in a couple of weeks when it goes back on the scales. Jack has been lightened as well and ditched the old handle to crank it, have welded a wheel nut on to it and now use an impact gun to operate it.

Dave, Hirstglen, first round of the Sprint master series. Willis, was talking about moving the thread back to the rides section, sell it? you have to be joking.:lolcry:

Thought I'd update this. Tony and I have been working quite hard on the car getting it ready for another outing, with another new engine. This time we thing we have all the issues sorted. The new engine runs very nice, has been run in and while the engine was apart, we had another play with the head. New fiberglass bonnet is on the car and is all painted. We are in the process of doing the boot, that should be completed this weekend. That really own leaves the lexan windows to do and that'll be all the lightening the car will need, I think 750kg's is lite enough, for now!! A lot of the stuff we are doing at the moment is just fine tuning and development work. We have approx 3 weeks before it's next rally, so if it finishes this event then it can return to being a Rollaclub ride!! "hint"

It just sucks that they are allowed to run a 3SGE in that and we can even run a 4AGE in a corolla (ke70). You can also run a 3SGE in a TE27 under cams regs.

They are 5/8 cylinders from memory, The only thing we brought was the shaft that carries the spherical brg and ends. Tilton do the shaft and also a remote adjuster as well. You can it in this pic, RH corner, the red knob!!

Thanks Paul I do believe i only have these photos. The biggest thing is the pedal ratio, i think we had to move our pivot point up to get a 5 -1 ratio, pedals like it's boosted.

Not sure on how much weight yet, i'll have to get the scales out and check it, would be thinking around 10kg's. The TRD shocks are a sealed unit, we had to put it in the lathe and turn the bottom off it to get access to everything inside. Should be fun putting it back together, but i have worked out how TRD done it, so hopefully shouldn't be a problem. I'll try and get some photos up of it pulled apart.

Bonnet almost finished, just need to paint the under side and it can go on the car. Started on making the mould for the boot as well. Hopefully the engine block will be back from getting tanked and surfaced tomorrow and we can start on stitching that back together.

Three bond is the stuff to use,Japanese made and used by Toyota, also did you check your sump to see if it was straight before putting it on, they squish around the bolt holes and don't pull the sump down properly.

Sorry mate, but Toyota have stopped making parts for AE86's and KE70's. Most of our stuff was brought before they stopped making it. If you are lucky you may find some old stock. It's that bad that we are know looking at repairing our old TRD rally shocks ourselves. We turned the end off one the other weekend and stripped it down, interesting to see that there isn't much inside of there. But the valve body is where it all happens. The shock we stripped had blown the oil and gas out due to damage on the shaft, we have found someone to repair the shaft and have hopefully found a new seal. We'll do the rest ourselves, including oil and regasing it.

And he has a few more tricks up his sleeve, he's hoping to get the magic 300rwhp, which really shouldn't be a problem.:hmm: Then he's talking anit-lag  and larger turbo. She'll look the part and go like the real thing.:fuzz:

Mmm, not sure if that's the way i've taken the picture or if it is offset. I'll have a look when i'm there next. Sump guard looks OK, far from prefect, but it is a sump guard after all. I done another one for a mate of mine (Group B Celica) and he has bounced that over some shit, and it still looks good. Celica with the new flares. looks FAT!!!

A few parts have turned up, Brand new pistons, rods and crank. Hopefully we'll be able to get them to the machinist next week. Tony has spent the last couple of days massaging the ports and I'm almost ready to put paint on the rear panel, then i can mould it up for a glass one.
