  1. Very nice. Looks like heaps of fun to drive. All your hard work has paid off =] Try not to crash it >_<
  2. I agree with you man.. So many good cars that have potential just.. gone and wasted from idiots =( Some good projects and cars in there =( Wish I could save them.
  3. Lol, I use a flat head screw driver. Takes me a TINY bit longer, just depends how hard the little shit is to get off. Door trims are generally easy to remove, Just look for contact points that are holding the door trim on, make sure all the screws plus the sirclip(clip behind window winder) is off, and should just pull off with a little force. Just becareful though, maybe double check everything? if you are new to mechanics.. I usually double check, just in case I stuff up a customers car =( Hope it works for you buddy.
  4. This Jap Wreckers bloke said this to me: "SR20DE VVTI S14 ENGINE IN STOCK WITH WIRING LOOM COMPUTER AIR FLOW METER. IT IS A VERY CLEAN ENGINE INSIDE AND OUT" Those were his words. As well asking me if I wanted him to compression test on it for me. Do you think it's worth it? He offers $1100 for the engine and $550 for the 5 speed gearbox and "Plus freight" I was going to give a few other places a ring first though. Only thing that is going to suck for me is that I can't legally drive her on the road if I do this conversion.. so ahhh >.< I'd be waiting.. 4-5 years! before I even get to drive my beast legally! So I was thinking of a 5k for the time being. But I have no idea anymore =( All I know is that I want my SR20DE in it, and me driving it legally at my age now :/
  5. Do you mean George Wegener? Unless he has two cars, I'm not familiar with that one. I've spoken to George Wegener in his SL Corolla. That thing is pretty fast. He is the one who got me fully into the older Corolla's, I fell in love with it soon as I saw it. He races at Willowbank as well, not too sure if he is coming to the next one, but I hope so.
  6. Hehe, Getting mine tinted as well. You're car is coming along well. I'm pretty sure I heard you say that your wing is rubber? Or is it fibreglass or something? If it isn't rubber then are you able to tell me where exactly you got it from or where I could find one? Or even just a little flick type of a wing like some of the Escorts or Toranas have. Keep up the good work little lady.
  7. [quote name='nyxvampire' date='Dec 3 2007, 10:21 AM' post='212747' I was actually going to convert it sometime. but not untill after i register it. i had, had a few thoughts on what i'd put in it, but wasnt to sure. most people were like 'rotary' but i'm not a fan. :jamie: then others were like v6, but everyones got em. so it was nice to have been told about something different. defently considering. Put an SR20DE in it hehe, though I've found a few members on here that is trying to do it. I heard of some Cosworth engine might be able to fit? Though don't hold me on it. I don't think I've seen them yet, though I could be wrong >.< I want to see more pictures! ^_^
  8. I'm EXACTLY in the same situation. I've thought about an SR20DE motor for my ke55 hardtop, and thus being a powerful engine and they are pretty common for parts upgrades. Mates told me to do a rotary but I'm not much of a fan of rotaries. It's going to cost me around.. $1,500 - $2,000 for the engine and gearbox. Though I still have the wiring, fuel lines, brake upgrades and suspension and etc to do. Personally I'd go with SR20DE. Though 4A-GE would be my second bet. Good luck with it!
  9. Yeah, mine is an KE55S which states on the compliance plate, And yes I did pick up my KE55S Hardtop from Ebay for 375$ haha. Had to travel a tiny bit further than expected but I didn't mind. Now I am thinking of just doing a simple 5k engine conversion to just get a little more power out of it. Though I really want to put a twincam motor into it and turbo etc at a later age because of the new laws etc which are shit. Thanks for the more information guys!
  10. Haha, I want more in mine as well haha. Get some more pictures of your KE55 soon, I want to see what colour you have chosen for it!
  11. Ouch. That would of sucked when you crashed. Not to diss your car or anything, but I thought a pillar gauges are illegal? "Obstruction of view" ? Though I guess it doesn't stop many people anyway lol. Your car is looking good man, hope the crash isn't that bad. Very nice paint job too, the neighbours didn't complain? Ours did :/
  12. Nice ride, I'm almost in the stages of stripping it myself, though don't have a clue what colour either. Got to plan out my conversion before anything hehe. I am interested to see what colour you have chosen, can't wait to see it. Also, it is good to see more women into the KE's, Hopefully there will be more to come.
  13. Thanks, I just need to look around and find another so I get try and eliminate the rust issue. From the looks around here on this forum and from what I heard from you guys is that they have a common rust issue. Thanks again.
  14. Sorry if this thread pissed you guys off, I'm fairly new to the forums and mechanics, First year mechanic apprentice as well, so more information I get will help me in the longer run not just for my car but a little for my job. My age has a bit to do with it as well, I might even be the youngest member here, though can't be too sure. Thanks for the information.
  15. Yeah mine is a CS Corolla hardtop. Thanks for the information, I already have looked up through the internet such as wikipedia etc, and already on my way for a manuel, 50$ from Repco.
  16. I can't really find a HEAP of information about KE55's over the internet, which sucks. Just wondering how much they initially weigh, how many of them were produced, Wether or not if they are rare or common. By the looks of it I see a fair few of them on this site, so they seem kind of common. Though I'm pretty sure most of them come with the little metal badge on the back left hand side of there boot, it says TRD etc? Toyota Racing Development. So I am just wondering if anyone can give me pretty good information about my KE55 Hardtop. Thanks,
  17. So hmm. I've tossing up between an SR20 or a 4AGE, though I sort of like the SR20 a little more at the moment. What do you guys think that would be a little cheaper and still be pretty good to do up? I've always thought of Nissan as a performance group so I am leading towards the SR20DE motor. Once I am off the laws, I will equip a turbo iff possible. Anyone have any of those engines spare? If so how much? lol. Thanks fellas.
  18. How hard would be the wiring to the ECU? How much money do you reckon will cost for the custom engine mounts, custom tailshaft as well as the gearbox crossmember? Cheers,
  19. I read up on these SR20 motors, They look pretty good. Though there is a few to choose from. The one I like is the SR20DE. How hard would it be to find that motor and gear box? And sorry if I repeated myself, how easy will it actually fit into my KE55? Will the gearbox with it line up with my diff properly? What other modifications would have to be made if I put an SR20DE in my KE55? Thanks
  20. I gave Queensland Transport a call about a few weeks ago. I had the same thoughts, that I wasn't aloud to have an engine modification that needs to be aproved but the lady said from Transport that I am aloud to, just as long as it doesn't exceed 200kW, is not turbo or supercharged and has an engineers certificate. The SR20 motor, How easy is it to put into the engine bay as well as how much power would you reckon you could get out of it? Also where could I find a gearbox to connect to the engine? Sorry, not looking to buy another car, I already like my KE55 ^_^ Thanks for your help, it's giving me a more wide range of different motors etc. Thanks again.
  21. Do any of you know of a good gearbox to actually fit to any of those engines above? Looking for a manual if it's a 4 cylinder. Though Auto for a 6 cylinder if I put one in. Thanks for the help.
  22. Okay well I forgot to mention. I am under new laws here in Brisbane, Which sucks ass. I'm not aloud a engine bigger than a 6 cylinder, not aloud a turbo, or supercharger, not aloud a engine running in my car that has a power output of 200kW. And not aloud to go over a 1327cc or something like that. Thanks Jordan, even a 4 cylinder would do me pretty good, but I just want to have something in my car, that I can at least get it around 180-200kW but the engine still has the capacity of getting more power out of it.
  23. I'm fairly new to here, I own a 1981 KE55 Hardtop Coupe, I'm not really a fan of things under 2L So I was wondering about putting a RB20 Nissan Skyline motor into it. I was wondering if any of you guys or girls would know if it will work? I've also seen people put a L20B Nissan Skyline motor into one. Can I actually put a RB20 motor into my KE55? With a gearbox to actually fit? I need a bit of advice, Thanks.
  24. Hey, I'm pretty new. Just joined today, been keeping an eye on this little KE55. I've got one myself, but she is in need of a little special attention since I only got it around a month ago. Only cost me 375$ as well. Keep up the good work, would like to see it full finnished =]
