  1. was just curious with your shinny wheels, used to have some obsessed with wing mirrors, just wondering if it were the same with chrome wheels
  2. do you find you have a lot of magpies always around your car? or blackbirds?
  3. haha yep, sounds like it wants to race too. Final product will be a little more subtle. Thinking © light baby camry blue and white walls. the © means its my idea don't steal it
  4. booked in, should be good never been out that way before
  5. ah yes, the emptines... probably the only benefit of being single is you always have green somewhere, at some time :P Think it might be a VL actually, I keep getting mixed up and have different receipts to match. the sc12 will stay for a bit. it looses huff bout 1/2 - 3/4 of the way down, but it will be a good reason to learn how to race while still getting traction. will move up to an sc14 later and when I'm good, I'm skipping the t28 and going for a dirty t3/4 :P roo, metal bands for the win i reckon, there is a big gap between the joins as well, so ill be looking for as much reinforcement as I can get. those bride seats in you avatar... how do you find them? comfy? good for daily?
  6. Yep t-bolts and 5ply strong walled silicon are 1st up, then straightening the cooler piping. Its not necesarily a problem of the clamps slipping but the rubber/silicon joiners caving in and pulling as they try to get sucked through my intake and then the clamps letting go. I was hoping to get a base line down before I did any upgrades so I could see what my modifications were doing. Will be getting some more flow consistency when I put my new headers on too pending fitment. Just like to add, that apart from the gear box upgrade (was previously a pussy little t50) this is how I brought the car. Its not exactly how I would have built it, but will be an evolution, as all projects are
  7. Cheers guys  just wait till shes finished Well here goes the first night, wasnt so hot... 28/01/09 So my first time being a drag, was a blast. It was hot, but could see it was going to be great when it cooled down later. The nack of racing on the strip is an interesting one, getting the lights right, shifting correctly, reaction times, not spinning too much, not getting bogged down etc. I was up for it, shame the car wasnt. It was frought with problems: Some how my handbrake released its tension (wasnt starting with the handbrake or anything, just released its tension :S) so no more parking on a hill It must have been a little bumpy with the burnouts and all but, I lost the master and slave resivoir caps somewhere :S hopefully not on the track Stupid intercooler piping couldnt handle the pressure and kept caving in and taking the hose clamp with it. HT lead must be knackered as one went soft and squigy and came undone, jammed it back in to get a decnet arc and back on 4 cylinders It all made for an interesting ride home :2thumbs: So all in all I was quite proud of my results even though I had no boost. out of 4 runs: Time: 19.855sec R/T: 0.425 Against: Honda Civic B18 turbo ( he got red lights :y:) Time: 17.838sec R/T: 0.087 Against: BA? Fairlane V8 Time: 17.204sec R/T: 0.350 Against: S15 Silvia show car ( smashed his R/T but that was all) Time: 19.303sec R/T: 0.252 Against: AW11 4AGZE (bigger pulley and cold air - ran a 15.3) now to fix stuff till next time...
  8. So for those who didnt get it, I went drag racing, not cross dressing and this is where I'm going to post the progress of my experiences. The car will be a daily sleeper that will see the strip ocasionally (probably monthly). It will be kitted to race but still be comfortable enough to cruise in. The goal is to run 13s and still be a tidy sleeper. So here it goes... Heres the current specs: ::Body:: 1975 KE35 Corolla Coupe ::Engine/Drivetrain:: 4AG-ZE 2nd Gen DLI W55 Supra 5-speed Gearbox Giant one piece drive shaft VK Commodore Borg Warner Diff ::Brakes/Suspension:: Front: Standard Rear: VK Drums Standard leaves Random silver shocks ::Fuel:: VL external Pump Surge tank ::Intake:: Front mounted intercooler Stupid piping with dumb joiners that fall off ::Exhaust:: Big headers with 4" collector 2.5" piping Gutted cat Tiny hotdog Cannon on the back Enjoy!
  9. So.. Ive decided that along with the casual street work I usually do, I'm just not satisfied. So I made a decision that will change my whole appearance. I'm going to do drag! It all started last week with a suggestion from a mate at work who has been regularly out on wednesday night and convinced me its something I should add to my repetoire. He said it was a blast and that its the most fun you can have in one night. So last wednesday night I went out and had a great time! It wasnt the easiest to get used to, but by the end of the night I started to get the hang of it. Anybody else out there done this as well? you'll know what I'm on about  So after each night I go out, I'm going to post up my experiences and how I went
  10. Should be heading out again tomorrow if anyone else is keen... hopefully it doesnt rain again
  11. cool Ill be there with my 35 and a mates AU Falcon and perhaps a commonwhore. what do you drive?
  12. Anyone here go to the amatuer drags on wednesday night at Eastern Creek? Thinking about going tomorrow night and perhaps once a month anyone else keen??
  13. will people be camping or finding their own accomodation? I vote making it an NSW cruise/camp out! everyone else seems to be having one at the moment. Start in Sydney, pick up others on the way, find a camp spot close to each other etc.
  14. I may just be camping somewhere near dubbo over that weekend, might pop in for a look
  15. cool didnt know that, good to learn
  16. I have a couple as well, didnt submit them before because I didnt think they were good enough quality, so I will take advantage of otheres laziness :D http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u131/sp...22112008295.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u131/sp...22112008298.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u131/sp...22112008299.jpg Ill let you choose, btw couldnt find your email, hope its ok to post here
  17. Mechanically yes I agree, but when you strip down two sets of equipment to find that they are the same only one has a giant price tag, then no I don't. In saying that though, its like pirating, if you do it enough the people creating the original will go broke because they can't cover costs. ie trust/greddy
  18. ae82 through to ae111 all have the same suspension (except superstrut?) few good packages around, like a guy (can't remember his name) on toymods sells blue ones that are identical to the tien version only way cheaper
  19. dizzy on the 20v is at the back of the head (in rwd position) and at the side on a 16v so the gze cas wont fit me thinks (never tried) because of the angle. have seen evo coils and cas used tho. could just mode the sprocket on the end of the gze cas. you could also mod the 20v dizzy to act as a cas
  20. cheers vinnie, isnt the internet a small place? everytime i google dashboard restoration the datsun 240z site comes up which led to the site JiP mentioned, as well as others lol i don't mind posting, as you say its probably under $20, as long as there is no local option. $400 is a bit steep, but it depends on the finish and trim options etc i guess
  21. yeah, they were the site that gave me the idea. Was hoping for something a little more local, but if I get desperate I will prob just send it to them. cheers mate
  22. So, because I like to do stuff myself, I'm going to fix my god awful dash. Its going to be pretty much a strip down and rebuild, so my couple of quick questions are: - Who can do vaccuum vinyl application for when I want to put a new cover on it? don't say any auto re-trimmer becasue I don't know any. - Is foam a legal necesity? ie. smacking your head on a fibre glass dash is never fun. I don't think it is, just thought Id ask anyway. - Any tips/tricks to instil on a young apprentice from a master/guru
  23. had another look earlier and its not the light to the radio, have found those wires and they still have a bulb attached. could be the clock light or the glove box light. doesnt look important anyway *waits for jynx to kick in* The guy that did it was *suppose* to be an auto sparky. by the looks of some of his handy work, there should be lots of sparky but not the good kind
  24. TRD ke70 - cheers, have just found those on toymods as well  will print some nice big A3 versions at work for future ref. blackrolla80 - makes sense, is that the dim light that comes on at night? curious as to why its looped though, as in, if i break the loop will something not work? will post up my findings
  25. has anyone here got a wiring diagram for a '75 ke35? engine bay and cabin would be cool specifically looking for where these wires go to :P and why they are in a loop  sorry for the poor quality
