It is in between those models, but it's a panel van they're not meant to have those types of venetians. They might sell them though, should ask them specifically for ke36 ones. You'll probably have to get custom ones.

Shes pretty tidy to say the least, you wont wanna take it out in the dirt! Amazing work guys well done!

Update: Booked in for roady for wednesday... finally.

Update: Before the spray job, this was a really quick fix to get it looking roadworthy, a proper paint job will be done later down the track, when all the mechanicals are done to my standards. After, with everything re-fitted. Tail lights put in, looks so much better than the stock ones! Going to get buffed tomorrow, and get it booked in for the roady!!

You have to come! Need to see our cars together haha wont have my 4age in though... :[

Update: Door ready for new strip. Fixed all the rust, luckily most of it was only small holes... ...Except for the rust gathering around the plug holes. Paint was cracking on the front fender and near the filler cap, so i sanded that back for a touch up job. AS you can tell in the photos, was too cold and rainy for painting. When the paint goes on it will be ready for roadworthy!

UPDATE: My mate Steve and I went to a Wreckers on Cooper St, there was a perfect CS almost exactly the same as mine with a perfect dash. The door had a different trim and a pinstripe on it. Thanks to Ben for finding it! :laff: Centre console is in terrible condition, it's all faded and blotchy I tried painting the spare one but all the paint blobed together even after I used prep sol on it twice, spray on silicon on the blue. The black one looks a lot worse in person. I didn't realise how far you had to go into the dash to unscrew the pad at the back. We ended up unscrewing about 50 nuts bolts and screws to get to the 4 nuts holding in the pad itself... We had to do it twice, haha. Well worth the effort though. Steve cleaning an air vent. New door bolted on, Perfect fit. iPhone died (surprise) before I got photos of the rest. More photos tomorrow. The pinstripes came off with some work from a sharp edge I tried the heat gun on a rubber strip, and I found out the bad way that someone has done a pretty dodgey spray job on most of the panels, the car is going to need a full respray in the future, taking the strips off ripped some paint up with it. I'm not too fussed at the moment, as I'm just gonna use it as a daily and it has a lot of dents that aren't so noticeable. I got some touch up paint to go over all the rust patches, which I'll be doing tomorrow. Put the new tacho dash in I bought, works perfectly and looks brand new. I'm surprised how easy it went in. I thought I would need to rewire something... More to come tomorrow!

should be there :y:

Hey Ben, The Alloys definitely bring the car together. I love it! Have you tried letting the stripper soak into it? put some in a cloth and leave it on there and rub it off after a while. might be a bit risky Also, I might look into getting those door cards, when i have money again for a sound system haha. My priority is a new dash at the moment though. You don't know of anyone with spare Vinyl Blue interiors do you? EDIT: Getz looks brand new! I need to bribe you to do mine! Cheers.

fast reply! so sit there with a heat gun over it and peel it off slowly like a bandaid? Cheers.

Thanks guys! Obviously the longchamps won't stick that far out, but should make the edge of the guards. I'm looking forward to putting them on. I'm going to start all the JDM mods after it's road worthy. Just need to touch up the paint, buff, wax, armourALL of it, and vacuum it out. Should be road worthy in a week. Anyone know a good way of getting the side rubber off without wrecking the paint under?

Hey mate, I read this thread a while back when you decided to put the new exhaust on the 71, a lot of progress has been made since then! The cars look amazing well done. I wish I had this much attention to detail... Might need you to do mine! :P Are you going to restore the alloys? paint the centre caps and restore the rims, or try to leave them how they are? The colours are slightly different. Also, Did the 71 come with that interior? looks so clean... I can't seem to find one anywhere.

Went 2 hours into the city to get some Longchamps. 1 is missing a centre cap :bash: Rust has converted as well, gonna ring up for a roadworthy today or tomorrow. She looks so tough...

Cheers, Hopefully if i can get the 4age in, haha. if I'm not missing any parts...

Update: JDM Tail lights finally arrived after 3 weeks in the mail. Bought a tacho dash arrived from Sydney in a week. And a new Drivers side parker light from e70van which arrived in 1 day. The plugs didn't match so I had to rewire them, and the wiring was done so the passenger side lights were hijacking the drivers side from the power plug. Is this normal? I left it basically the same way, fixed up some of the bad connections made it tidier, seems to work alright. Tail lights in comparison. Used armour all spray stuff to make the bumper blacker, worked really well I think. Sprayed rust killer on most of the rust patches similar to this. I'm not sure whether I should keep the Black strip along the side or not either. Photos seem to make it look 100x better than it actually is, can't see any dirt on it, haha. Next week I'm going to be fixing all the rust spots and then it's off to be regod. ;)

was there yesty, 2 ae71s both with immaculate front bumpers as far as i can remember.

I used to be able to do 6 reps of 95kg lol but then I gave it up.

The wheel is slightly bigger that the stock one, just looks big in the photo haha. It's dads :jamie: Yea, I was going to ask you when you left. Ahh well. Yea, I'll get a dash mat if I don't find a better one in time. I live in the middle of nowhere, goign to a local wrecker takes at least an hours drive south. Theres one at pick a part in campbellfield I might pinch too. Hopefully i can fine some 15" stockies there too.

Fixed the seatbelts: ran a flame over the frayed threads, they looks brand new. Cleaned out all ready for road worthy except for the lights that need to go in. Dash has a crack on the top, and there is glue marks all over it, someone had glued a dash cover. All the vents seem to be warped as well. Twin cam steering wheel I got from pick a part a while back, in perfect condition. I'm thinking about painting the dash black, or half of it where the sun has damaged it, thoughts? Got hit by the lawn mower... I'm not sure if it'll pass the roady with the cracked dash, trying to look for a whole new piece, haven't been very successful so far. JDM tail lights should be arriving in the mail today!!

Nancy '81 KE70 Auto Flat Front. Ex-Rental from Ace Car rentals Picked her up last year some time. Was really into the 4age conversions and i wanted to do it badly. Bought it for $400 with a 4 speed thrown in. Hendo drove it back to his house, where we marvelled at it for an hour or so. He had some star sharks lying around, i instantly fell in love. She is in perfect condition except for the body work and interior, only cosmetic. The body is perfectly straight no rust in the chassis. There was a bit of bubbling in the rear fenders and the paint was starting to fade from being left in the sun its whole life. She has a blue interior which I don't really like, but most of the vinyl is in good nic so I'm most likely going to keep it until i can afford to change it. My Plans: To make it as JDM as possible. 4age cruiser These ideas were pretty vague, but I had time to decide. AE71's ...AE71 was the most awesome looking thing id ever seen so far, so I'm pretty much going copy this exactly haha. The red on white just looks great. So at this point I'm going to go with the Red and White theme. Red on White and Chrome. White car everything chrome, JDM bumpers, JDM tail lights, Red fender mirrors. Hopefully, some Red starsharks: like the ones that were so close to me in the beginning. I found this on some random website, its pretty much perfect. Red stripe, white and chrome everywhere. I bought a 4age set up and got ready to fit it. I really wanted to do everything 100% legal, because I was a bit silly near the start of my Ps. I got home one day, and started pulling the 4k out. Now, this was a bad idea. I learned that the costs of doing everything 100% legal, was going to cost me some ridiculous amount, and I lost interest. At this point my morale was at an all time low. ...A few months later: I decided that the 4age sitting there doing nothing could be better off in someone who actually wants to I went on a cruise to Sorento with the club. Few amazing cars. More notably e70van's ke70 panelvan he had done what i wanted to do. talked me through how he did it, gave me some inspiration to continue on my project. Only regret was I didn't have a ride in it. Last week: I decided that risking a defect would be worth it. My Dad and Brother helped me put the 4k back in to get it rego'd. Hooked up the 4k again, it was perfect except for the obvious manifold gasket and the distributor had bad points. Cleaned out the engine bay, and the undercarriage. Found the usual rust, and the tail lights were cracked and the front left parking light, The front tyres were worn but Brent had a spare set lying around. I also found that all the seats were different colours under the seat covers, eg. The back seat had a really nice vinyl blue, and the back was a cloth tweed grey. Finished what we could so far: I've just bought some Red fender mirrors and some jap tail lights that will be going on soon. Well done for reaching this far if you managed. :(

itll be clean this time yea? ;)
