LOL, was seriously hard to get a picture of it. Vids later.

Khanacross time again!
-
No, we've only done a few events and used the studded ice tyres, which according to the rally tyre salesman I spoke to are pretty hard to beat. If these retreads are adequate, they'll make replacing tyres very cheap.
-
Damn, need NASA logos on them now

Dirt event this weekend, bling wheels are off and these things are going on Cheap ebay rally retreads on some Japanese Space Crew V-1's in excavator orange. Lovely.

You'll also want a t-series diff. To build my 4age ke70 I bought: - an ae71 pedal box - $50 - a ke70 (obviously!) - $250 - a T18 to donate its t-series diff - $400 - a wrecked japanese ae86 to donate the rest of the driveline, electrics and suspension - $3500 Once I had those, the conversion only took a few weekends!

We did make a couple of changes ;)

Grip only. Too much dorifto and you're banned. Tiny track, but a lot of fun. Need handling rather than outright speed.

It was hilarious. So many people came over to look and laugh at the filthy paddock basher lined up amongst the shiny evos and wrxs. Once it hit the track, laughter turned to confusion and disbelief. Got better times than our sprinters.

Haha, I seriously did. Bought them for my sprinter a while ago, but without a motor, there hasn't been much point assembling and installing them. Also borrowed its strut brace and gear shift. It can all go back next week.

There's a bitumen sprint day coming up this weekend and all but one of the ae86s are still down. Our poor ke70 has kindly offered to take their place. While it was great for offroad use, we couldn't take it out on the racetrack with that setup, so we've made a few changes. T18 struts and brakes out. AE86 coilovers with massive bilstein shocks, JDM ae86 brakes and QFM A1RM pads. AE86 power steering arms, new tie rods, rack ends and lock spacer. Has about double the amount of lock it had before. Strut tower brace T3 short shift kit Ice tyres off, Federal 595 RS-R's on Just needs wheel alignment, oil change and rear swaybar installed. Its only temporary though - next week we have to change it all back again!

Beat me to it. I knew there something out at Willowbank. Probably others around too. Seems to be a pretty common low budget motorsport. We're mostly into tarmac racing, but this is great fun and a good use for all those leftover parts.

The 4age makes things much more exciting. Down low its got more pickup than the 4k had and once the revs get up, it goes nuts.

Super dirt turbo engage! Went to our first event this weekend after fitting the 4age. Worn out tyres were a let down, but damn the engine goes hard. Starting to wonder if it really is stock. No problems, ran perfectly and came home with barely a scratch. We ditched the t18 rear springs and monroe gas shocks on day 1 as the car felt a bit unstable and was prone to spinning. We put the TRD springs back in, and a pair of long stroke, TRD blue race shocks. Much more stable, but this meant we just spun at much higher speed! Other thing that was apparent was the severe lack of steering lock. Pic above is at full lock! So, before the next one we'll convert to ae86 power steering arms and maybe a lock spacer.

MOAR sprinters! All the sprinters are dead now - the last one really, really dead. But it lives on in the ke70 for now.
-
Which one? There's quite a few in the background on this thread.

ooohhhh

Volvo 740 front bumper endoskeleton fitted. Thick alloy box section with shock absorbers to mount it to the chassis. The car will simply cut through the smaller trees now and have more chance of bouncing off the larger ones.

Sits higher than I thought it would. Rear wheels are slightly taller than the front. Will see how it looks with the small back wheels on it, or swap back to trd springs. Today I fitted some bargain basement gauges and ignition panel (not wired yet). Shouldn't have bothered with such cheap gauges - had to get adapters made to fit the senders, then the temp sender crumbled when I did up the nut holding the wire. Cheap cast crap. Hooked it up to factory sender but it goes out of range. At least the wiring is there now, but will need a new gauge. And random arty pic

Ae71 Panelvan Dash Cluster Lights don't Work, Help Please?
swampgarage replied to Jesseb369's topic in Car Electrical
If all the fuses and bulbs are good, check the dimmer knob is connected and if it is, swap in the one from your sedan to test. -
I'm considering doing a side pipe on our khanacross car. 4age at full throttle with headers and about a metre of exhaust is nearly 130dB on a cheapy dB meter. So, I wouldn't put too much faith in that figure, but it causes immediate and lasting ear ache even when standing about 10m away from the car.

Yes, potentially your panelvan gauge panel potentiometer is problematic or unplugged, as was the case with my car.
