  1. Hello guys, The reason I am here is that my car is in the garage and i have stripped my steering box and drag link and the front x member is off. Yes I am installing a rack and pinion. I have found an expert welder who is ready to fabricate. I know and we all know that we don't have a donor rack the size we want as the width is too small. But I am going to build a center pull rack and pinion with a wider rack like as follows. but to do so I need some exact measurements within the next 2 to 3 days. Measurements A = Distance between LCA inner pivot points = 492.4mm (Credit parrot) B = Distance between tie rod inner pivot points = 410mm (Credit parrot) C = LCA length = 320mm (Credit parrot) D = Perpendicular distance between LCA inner pivot center and tie rod pivot -------- ?? E = Vertical difference in height between inner LCA pivot and inner tie rod pivot = 6mm (Inner tie rod pivot is higher) (Credit Rob KE25) Looking forward to input from all the experts here. Thanks Other info Front Track Width (Wheel Mounting Face to Wheel Mounting Face): 1270mm (Credit styler) Rear Track Width (Wheel Mounting Face to Wheel Mounting Face): 1295mm (Credit styler)
  2. Hi there, What are the options that we have to upgrade a KE20/25 front suspension. 1. Which crossmembers can we use, KE30 or KE70 or KP61?? 2. What are the shortest LCAs that can be used on a KE20?? Are there any shorter than KE70?? I am busy designing a rack & pinion setup for my car. I have installed a starlet rack in but as it is wider therefore bumpsteer issues Temporary fix - Drop the car as much as possible - Less movement less bumpsteer. Currently drives excellent on flat roads with small bumps. . Out of all the crossmembers I have seen, the ke30 looks the easiest swap. My current track width is R LCA + L LCA + Inter LCA distance = 320mm + 320mm + 493mm = 1133mm If I use a KE30 crossmember with KE70 LCAs 300+300+520 = 1120mm (1.3 cm Narrower) OR If I use a KE30 crossmember with KE30 LCAs 310+310+520 = 1140mm (0.7 cm wider) Would any of these be a better start in rack and pinion conversion??
  3. Here's my 1973 ke20 after not owning a car for a few years i wanted to get another i was looking for a wagon but wasn't having any luck but got offered this for $400 thru a friend. Its pretty much standard except for 13inch mazda 323 rims and a 4k and k50 So far i have just cleaned it up a bit and got it running better my plans are get to get it painted the original colour and tidy enough for rego in SA then start some mods to suspension and some 14x7 wheels then later some engine mods. how i bought it After a clean And after i painted under the guards,rims and headlight,grille,tail light surounds and got rid of the commo indicators Does anyone know the name of the colour or the paint code of this orange and what are my options for shocks and springs for the stock struts?
  4. ive been working on my baby for a while shes been stripped down to her naughty bits and cleaned up. there was a little rust and then there was more lol. around the windows there was so much it took me ages to regrapht all the metal around the rear and front windows unfortunately i have no photos as i have been working way too much and have been doing what i can in my sparetime, i will have alot more photos up soon and when my engine gets back from the engineers i will post photos and details. all ill say is a few key words. bored, shaved, honed, balanced, blueprinted, ported polished and ball peined hahaha you can join the dots there. i have a fuel injection set up on the way aka its in the mail and that will be the next project when all is running sweet
  5. Hi Guys, Let me start by saying that I'm new to the club :wave: I am in serious need of restoring a KE20. Got some issues to clear before starting the task. Consider this a car which has not undergo any engine conversion so still the original engine is there. Is it possible to add power steering to this car without any issue? Because most of my friends keep telling me if I do it, it will add much extra weight to the car making it difficult for the engine to drag. :(( What is the average fuel consumption of this car? Also are there KE20 lights (maybe Chinese or Taiwanese) to buy in the market or maybe to order online from somewhere? Help is appreciated :y: Cheers :thumbsup:
  6. G'day guys, Wondering if the more experienced and frugal might be able to point me in the direction of some parts for the KE25. Obviously trying to do the build on a budget so every penny counts! I mainly need suspension bushes, ball joints, tie rod ends etc.. Repco are quoting ridiculous prices. $100 for a single ball joint!! Your advise would be appreciated. Cheers
  7. Dear Rollaclub I've got a T50 box from an ae71 in my ke25 and the original speedometer cable is stuffed. The car came to me with a k50 box. Is it possible to use a speedo cable from, say, an ae86 or ae71 with my original dash speedo? Looking for a readily available solution as I'd rather not go for one of the Thai ebay jobbies Cheers
  8. Have put ke55 discs into front of my 1971 ke20. Have got no pedal pressure, has to be pumped a few times to firm them up. Its older master cylinder type. Has anyone else done this conversion and had trouble? Ive read it could be my master cylinder being too small for the front calipers. They are girlocks. Any help much appreciated. Cheers.

I am currently making convert to the corolla 4 door to 2 door, pillar in the middle is my cut and slide, this time I will do more long front door, and I hope my friends can help me find inspiration in this project.. sorry my english langguage too bad... :) its the image, and i will update after i working...
