  1. Oh man this is exactly what I wanted to do with my ke25, but then I went the tried & tested turbo 4age. Super interested in the rack & pinion swap though, watching with interest.
  2. My ke25 has ke30 crossmember LCAs and balljoints. Works out pretty nice with 40mm RCAs, ae86 struts and ae86 power steering arms. From memory some very minimal tweaking of the crossmember mounting holes was all that was required.
  3. stock leaves help me get traction with 4agte. she squats bro  apparently some dealer backed race ke20s ran stock rear and slightly heavier front springs, for traction.
  4. A note on dry cell / AGM / Gel etc etc batteries - they don't like too much heat so avoid mounting too close to the exhaust manifold..
  5. I can't comment on the 2tg with te27 booster issue but i'll add my 2c though. ae86 brakes seem to be the popular choice for many who upgrade to 4age so they should match with a 2tg quite well. the ae86 strut is an easy swap into the *e20 chassis. My engineer is happy with my ke25 running Japanese-spec ae86 brakes which have the vented rotor, along with T series drum brakes. And I make 210hp out of a turbo 4age... ae86 power steering arms are close to the length of ke20 steering arms to not mess with geometry and steering speed too much. they only require a tapered sleeve to make them fit the ball joint correctly. Techno Toy Tuning sell the sleeve as an adapter for ae86 suspension into a kp61 starlet. I recommend a booster plus a master cylinder which is 13/16" or 7/8" if running ae86 brakes.
  6. I used a Fullriver HC28 which is the same form factor as the Odyssey PC925 but costs half as much. Pretty happy so far! weighs 10.7kg, 410 CCA, I found an awesome powdercoated metal battery box for it made by an aussie bloke. The bloke working on my car was extremely impressed with the quality of it and ease of mounting in the engine bay. Can't remember where I got it but I might be able to dig it up This is the battery: http://www.batteriesdirect.com.au/shop/product/22716/hc28-(fullriver).html
  7. I got 195/55/15 +15 offset under the back of a 25 with a t series out of a corona (i think) which is around 65mm wider face to face. Looks like ive still got some space inwards too. Guard lip on the other hand is touch and go
  8. Woah, thems some anchors. What are the rotors out of?
  9. Dear Rollaclub I've got a T50 box from an ae71 in my ke25 and the original speedometer cable is stuffed. The car came to me with a k50 box. Is it possible to use a speedo cable from, say, an ae86 or ae71 with my original dash speedo? Looking for a readily available solution as I'd rather not go for one of the Thai ebay jobbies Cheers
  10. Alfa would be way cool and probably sound amazing In v6's Toyota had the 2MZ-FE (2496 cc, 200hp. Camry in AUS, others in japan) and the older 2VZ-FE (2507 cc, 159hp. Camry and lexus es250) and 4vz-fe (japan only, 2496cc, 173hp). Camry engines are dime a dozen. There's also straight sixes like the rb25de, 1jz-ge, All of those are 2.5's though so you'd have to run carbs. This works well on the RB, dunno about the others..
  11. A subtle nudge now and then might get the point across :lovin:
  12. Tidy. Looking forward to watching this progress :)
  13. If you want super nice front suspension, check out Shockworks who make an amazing coilover strut for the ae86 and will customise to your car. Costs maybe 50% more than used coil-over converted struts and a set of good dampers but is essentially the best thing to happen to corolla front suspension in the last decade going by the feedback i've seen.
  14. BEAMS 3sge engine and the 6-speed box to suit is a mighty fine combo which will provide many fasts, however there are lighter motors out there and it's also relatively tall so you would need to make an effort to get mass as low and rearward as possible. Also not sure as to gearbox tunnel clearance with that box... Alternatively, you can buy a 4age mounting kit from a guy on here for a decent price (have a look in the parts for sale area). A silver top 4age 20v can be had for 500-800 easily, a blacktop 20v a few hundred more but is nicer. T50 slush box bolts straight up and is fairly plentiful (came in ae71 corollas, early celicas, ae86's etc). W-series toyota boxes are strong and a well-established favourite swap for use in a myriad of cars from all makes. They are quite plentiful. The only source that I can name off the top of my head are the ma61 supras but it was widely used for many years. Diffs are a pain in the ass for the ke25 / ke20 as they are extremely narrow so virtually anything you would swap in will be wider. However if you go a 4age and don't mind running wheels with a reasonably high positive offset you can fit a T-series diff pretty easily (just swap mounts and leaf saddles) - they can be had from early celicas (ta22 ra28 etc), st141 corona's (live-axle one not IRS obviously), T-18 corollas, and I think also ke70 / ae71 corollas as well. They can be had for very little. There's an excellent list of toyota diffs and their spec floating around the web somewhere, someone may chime in with a link. A well established suspension and brake swap for the front is coil-over converted ae86 struts, ae86 ps steering arms (or te27 arms but they are very hard to find, have to look in USA or NZ), and japanese-spec ae86 discs & calipers (although aus one can be used with custom brake thinner pads). This mostly maintains front end geometry except about 1.5deg of positive camber is added. the brakes are not the best for circuit work though as they are only 234x18mm vented rotors. The ae86 is very well supported in the aftermarket so theres a good choice of parts. Techno Toy Tuning sell a wilwood brake upgrade with 280mm rotors (from memory) to suit the ae86 struts, but it necessitates a 15 inch wheel. Good luck, the 25 is an awesome car. Start a build thread!
  15. I recently bought what I believe to be the exact same product from a different seller (maxspeedingrods-au or something). Havent installed yet but I was sold by the fact that the outer ring is steel not aluminium. You seriously can't argue with the price either. Although that being said the T3 items look to be well made and worth the money. The bolts look like they aren't the greatest on these and I might replace them. Wouldn't be too keen on the dynamic timing changes if they loosened themselves :b
