hey people I'm looking down the path of a 12a or 13b swap into the ke38 just wondering if any one has tryed this before?

All i would suggest is that a NA 12a may not be torquey enough in the wagon. My bro

put a 12a in his mazda 626 and it wasnt all that good. my 2c.

cash aint the prob realy I'm a mechanic and i do lots of mods i got the motor and box so its the litle bits i got to figure out

you have to be creful, a mate and i looked into this a while back for a ke55.

 

you can only legaly go as big as a 12a they wont rego a 13b as its over the size limits.

 

remember legally the rotors are refersted as double capacity. i.e. 12a =2.4lt and 13b =2.6lt

legal schmegal.

 

bottom line is yes it can be done, and has been done many times before.

 

if u got the brains, times and moneys, get it done coz a rota rolla wags would be phatness.

don't bother much with a 12a, they're all older than 1988, and have all been thrashed. (Hey it's a rota, they all get thashed)

 

13b-6ports that came in the NA FC3S RX7 (series 4 and 5) are not bad if you're not going to be porting it. If you are however, get a turbo block (4 port) and have it rebuilt with NA rotars (higher comp) with an extend or bridge port. A single 48mm IDA weber and the thing will sound tuff as nuts.

 

Out of a good bridge port you can be looking at 130kw+ at the rear wheels. Keep in mind though that the wilder the port the worse the low end ride. BP's wont idle much below 1300/1500RPM andmay buck and kick a little while cruzing at low speed.
