If it is only for panel work though, she'll be right. Personally for the home application i would look at the $1000 mark. Your choice but...... Report
November 2, 200619 yr comment_149234 i bought a migmate, for 600 from trade tools to do my ke70 about over a yr n a half ago. works a treat. after a while the heat travels back down the wire and makes the tubing for the wire shrink, so you have to replace that every now and then. get a cheap arc and a cheap mig. don't need a mig to do 8mm stuff. :jamie: and if you have access to one of those big refilable bottles that would be good, coz 30 bucks for this small ones u can't refill is a pain! Mig's are a thing where you really get what you pay for. Uh huh! Ive used a 3 phase 500 amp MIG with remote. Absolute Heaven! You can weld shit 2+ inches thick and then go to something only a few mm thick and still have the same awesome weld quality. On the other hand the cheap 120 amp 240v machine I tried was a royal pain in the arse!! can't get enough heat into the big stuff but didn't adjust fine enough for the small stuff. The one reason I don't own a MIG is because I can't afford one thats good enough to satisfy my needs. I would HIGHLY recommend you do a welding course (adult learning type course, few saturday mornings) at TAFE before you consider buying one. Report
