Des Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 Hey hey, Do roadworthy places in QLD check up on modplate codes ? :) Quote
Redwarf Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 What do you define as "checking up"? Quote
billygoat Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 Haven't had experience with mod plates on roadworthies but I'm sure some mechanics will just say yes thats ok it has a mod plate. They probably should check them though. Quote
Rola Drifter Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 hey wen i got my ae71 modded for the 4age and drivers bucket seat i just took it to my mechanic who did both my mod plates and roadworthy all in the same day so it all depends on who you get to do yours Quote
Mosus Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 I do Mod plates and RWC's a work, by the book where meant to check the plate if were doing a RWC and it's got one, but we never do, usaully we do a RWC and Mod plate all in the one hit, it's easier that way, as said before depends were you go Quote
love ke70 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 when i got the ke70 roadworthied, (already mod plated) the bloke wrote down the numbers but he didnt check what the codes were. for what its worth, i told him cutting out the radiator support panel and also chopping out the bit that runs parallel to the front rail, but at the top (whatever you call that) i chopped that out, welded tubing inside it and bolted it back in (couldnt get f@$king engine in otherwise haha) and it actually stiffened it. but he asked, and i just said it was all done before i got the car and mod plated. also FMIC wasnt on the mod plate, i assume they need one.. and as an interesting thing the VIN number on my blue plate goes something like, xxxxxxxxx322or something and the actually VIN goes xxxxxxxx321 lol go figure.... as yours isnt mod plated right now whats the issue des? Des Posted February 28, 2007 Author Report Posted February 28, 2007 What do you define as "checking up"? Checking the numbers against what they are for. The guy thats going to mod plate my car isnt doing my roadworthy, The exhaust/mechanic shop down the road will be. My engineer said he might not be able to mod plate my front mount so I'm hoping the road worthy dude doesnt check the numbers. Quote
love ke70 Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 whats the deal with front mounts these days? i heard almost all are now illegal or some shenanigans? fwiw, my front mount isnt mod plated and past rwc... Quote

Trev Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 I don't see how FMIC's can be illegal as cars are getting released with them, Mod plate for a cooler, Damn, My front mount will be 1 of my front supports so hopefully they allow it. Quote

Redwarf Posted February 28, 2007 Report Posted February 28, 2007 Well. Yes front mounts are legal; if your car happened to come with one. If your car didn't, you are effecting the frontal impact area of the car, particularly if you're removing material and/or structurally modifying the front end to make it fit. There is no room in the mod plate system for a front mount, and a lot of reputable engineers wont engineer a car with one. Don't shoot the messenger, this is just how it is. Quote
