Well. Yes front mounts are legal; if your car happened to come with one. If your car didn't, you are effecting the frontal impact area of the car, particularly if you're removing material and/or structurally modifying the front end to make it fit.

 

There is no room in the mod plate system for a front mount, and a lot of reputable engineers wont engineer a car with one.

Front Mount Intercoolers are legal as long as the Impact and Crush zone on the front of the vehicle haven't been cut or weekend by the front mount beening fitted, this includes cutting 10mm out of the plastic on the bumper bar to make it fit, basically they want you to be able to bolt them on without touching a thing,

But wouldn't you by definition be affecting the frontal crush zone by adding something that wasn't mean't to be there? i.e: An FMIC?

Yeah thats what I'm worried about him not passing my FMIC and not being able to register the car.

All there worried about and when i say "there" i mean DOT, is that by adding the FMIC you don't cut any holes, or grind anything away becuase by doing that you weaken the crush zone of the Vehicle therefore it is no longer up to manufactures specs, when a car has been modified and needs a plate, the work done has to meet or exceed maufactures specs.

The support that i will be replacing is for the bonnet latch so that the bonnet closes properly, If they see that as structural id like to see what they think of tower to firewall strut braces as they modify the impact zone.

But in most FWD corollas they are standard or there is the twincam version that has it standard, And how does a strut brace modify the impact zone ? Its not cutting into anything.

That's only strengthening side to side movement, not impact directly from the front.

Well we will see as its getting close to mod plate time for my Ae70 so....
