Ae95 Assistance Pls

Hi guys,

 

I am looking at one of these as a little camping wagon but I have no idea what it is worth? It has 408K on it, and is in average condition, except for the head gasket.

 

Are there any other drames to look for. I cannot find much on the 4AFE but I guess it is the baby version of the 4AGE.

4AGE = Wide Angle head

4AFE = Narrow Angle head

 

GE will rev better than the FE

 

Pretty much the same motor so the head gasket won't be a great drama to do..

Can you swap heads? I am new to the 4A f/g/e circle. Or is it simpler to drop in a 4AGE etc?

Just drop a smallport 100kw 4age in it, It will be fun to drive and has alot more power & torque.

 

100kw 4age's can be picked up for just under $1000 in good nick. :)

If your going to convert then only stick with a gze for noticable gains!

yep.. GZE got kick ass too... go for turbo CA18/SR20 nissan for more excitement

id forget the turbo nissan motor.

for the hassle and $$$ its just not worth it. thats a $$$ conversion there....

Yes you can but you'll more or less need the complete 4age motor to do it. Far easier just to swap motors etc.

 

Head gaskets ARE different. The silhouette of the gaskets are similar but its the little things that make the difference. So is the head bolt torquing.

 

Could always swap in the 7afe (1.8litre) block for something little different. Might be able to get away with using the 4afe ECU.

Well well good ol' toyota interchangeability, just like the c52 - not only used in the corolla but found in the starlet too (some also have factory fitted LSD's)

no its not.

 

the ae95 uses the E57. the GT4S use E15# series.

theres quite a few differences.

 

i think the main worry strenght wise is the transfer case.
