Door Locks

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has changed door & boot locks on a ke55. just bought a set of Solex locks, came home and took the door trims off and there's no way i can reach the back of the locks. Do I have to remove the window or take the door apart ect.

Help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Chris.

Should just be a small metal clip (U shaped bit of flat steel with a angled bit to grab onto) holding the lock barrel agianst the outer door skin... stick ya hand up there, you'll find it.

Boot is the same.

i just had a few questions on keys/ locks/ imobilisers for anyone who knows:

My ke55 never had a boot lock, and it doesnt have any keys, ive heard i can get a key made to suit the lock(/ignition) but if i got another boot lock, can that be altered to work with the new key? Or is the only way to have the one key work for everything to transplant door + ignition + boot locks from another car? Would a set of solex locks be the way to go? from a quick google i have heard both positive and negative things about them but if you have used them let me know your opinion.

Also i was just looking for any general comments or suggestions regarding the security of cars. eg. imobiliser? Alarm? What you are running and consider nescessary etc.

Thanks

G`day mate, I worked in the motorcycle game for a number of years and it was commonplace to have to have keys made. The biggest problem is that you can`t get the ignition barrell out of the column without a key, so I would suggest taking a door lock out instead, pretty easy, and take it to any locksmith in your area. They will be able to make a set of keys for you within a day or so. They can quite easily change the innards of a boot lock for you also, giving one key fits all. From memory it didn`t cost too much either. Certainly cheaper than buying new secondhand stuff from a wrecker.

Good luck, Old Fella.
