SoulSearcher Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 I'm absolutely pissed off, majorly effin ****ed off.... get this: my warranty expires at 100,000klms (which is in approximately 200klms, which is approximately 3 days) the warranty work that they're doing today (can't remember what it is, but just SAY it is ummm the turbo), right so just say the turbo was replaced under warranty today, well, if it faulted say, next week, AFTER I'd reached 100,000klms, it's not covered.... BUT if my warranty was expired, and my turbo faulted, and I put a new one on, THEN I'd get 12 months warranty on it... how friggen dodgey is that! So here I am thinking I have 12 months warranty on my engine and the turbo and the rest of the stuff that's recently been repaired/replaced...but apparently that's not the case..... it all expires at 100,000klms. I'm not amused.... Lesley Quote

Consumer Affairs state that a repair should have a reasonable life, they told me that if it fails within another 3 years they will take it on. consumer affairs should force Toyota to repair it for free. LittleRedSpirit Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Didnt they already redo it at least once in the warranty period? Get what you can for free and then modify the crap out of it once it clicks over. Quote
Jono Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 we bought an ae112r about 6 weeks ago. thank god for stat warranty (also has a 3 year warranty if we keep getting it serviced at the dealer) since then it has been back 3 times with the same problem - won't shift into gears. 1st time they removed gearbox and overhauled it (apparently) 2nd time they adjusted something (it lasted about a day) 3rd time lucky, still a bit crunchy but i think its fixed. Now my wife hates it and the car was for her! Quote
towe001 Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 (edited) Makes me think its more to do with the clutch. Clutch fork bent or worn Dead hydraulic fluid making it spongy Slave cylinder needs an overhaul Or the system just to be bleed It reminds me of the time with my ex's ae82. Had a real bad vibration around the 105km mark. We kept taking the car back to get the wheels balanced this way, that way and every way in between, nada absolutely nada no difference at all till i had to swap the drivers side driveshaft cause it started clicking. SoulSearcher, just like what KE30_KE35_KE55 said with Consumer Affairs, i'd be asking them about it. But by rights any work done on your car (be it mechanical, body, electrical) should be covered by a warranty. Or if you want South Oz Ombudsman to help with pointing you the right direction. Teddy Posted November 16, 2007 Report Posted November 16, 2007 Lesley, I know the pain you are feeling, but i think you have done well to get this much so far haha. It sounds like your dealership has looked after you pretty well, from what ive seen. All new parts come with some form of warrenty, to an extent. Like all new things. Reaistically, if you got a new turbo NOW, in warrenty, and 2 weeks later it blew up (outside of "vehicle warrenty"); provided your servious history is good for the vehicle, it looks like its all legit and you HAVE NOT touched anything, to warrent its failure; it would fall into 2 cadigitorys; 1) Parts warrenty - you get warrenty on the part (its different for everything, so keep this in mind) and its replaced at there cost, as its a faulty 'part' 2) out of warrenty consideration form - that your dealer fills in. Chances are, if everythings going ok and you have done nothing wrong, then they may get it. How much turbo work has your car had? Jeezzz.. ! We never get any 112's in @ work with big problems. Un looked after, they are good for about 150 / 200 (thousand) kms, before they really need to be binned - the motor that is haha. Ahh... Quote
SoulSearcher Posted November 16, 2007 Author Report Posted November 16, 2007 oh, NO, NO. NO, my TURBO IS FINE :lolcry: there was something else that was being replaced, maybe the conrod? but I couldn't remember what it was called, so I substituted the part I couldn't remember for "turbo". I know that I have been WAY lucky to get what I have from Toyota, and I am genuinely appreciative for what they've done, BUT that aside, I was shocked that they could do that...I asked specifically about if the part was faulty and they said it still expires when my warranty does. That's like me in my shop selling a computer to someone on 16 February, with 12 month warranty, and on the 20 January their video card faults and needs to be replaced, hey, that's fine, we'll put a new one in for you, but your warranty STILL expires on 16 February. That part if sold separately would have a 12 month warranty, but because their computer runs out of warranty on 16 Feb that's when the card expires... My customers would have a cow! I guess my point is they could put any dodgey part in, it could be made of cardboard for all I know, and for them, it just has to hold together for 200k's then it's no longer their problem. I guess my major concerns are that the turbo has only been running for less than 10,000, the new engine for 20,000 they're still new yet as soon as I hit 100,000klms they're no longer covered...I love my car and I'm compulsive about it being right (they told me the reason my tint was scratching - only since the paint shop took my doors apart for painting mind you - was because my car was dirty - I was horrified that they were telling me that there were bits of my car that were dirty!) I'm going to make a couple of calls on Monday to see exactly where I stand, but it doesn't seem fair or right. Lesley Quote
