Phat535 Posted October 27, 2004 Report Posted October 27, 2004 what else apart from motor and computer are needed to do the conversion? I assume they would have a mechanical fuel pump on the side of the motor? can I just run an external pump in it's place or will I need to also fit a pick up pump in the tank? Is the fuel line thick enough? Or will I need to change it Those of you that have done the conversion before, what did you use as a fuel return line from the fuel rail to the tank? steel tubing? or just a length of rubber hose? Any thing else I need? Quote
Phat535 Posted October 27, 2004 Author Report Posted October 27, 2004 thanks buddy had already taken into consideration the manifolds, so it looks like I didn't overlook anything I can use the clutch/flywheel from my AE71 right? Quote
Phat535 Posted October 27, 2004 Author Report Posted October 27, 2004 the car only has to run for a day :blinks: dump the motor in with bare basics to drive and get mod plate then come back out again straight away and start on mods :jason: Quote
irokin Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 Unless your going to a dodgy fella your gonna have big problems getting a mod plate. Quote
irokin Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 dump the motor in with bare basics to drive and get mod platethen come back out again straight away and start on mods I'm pretty sure they wont be happy with the stock AE71 brakes either. Quote
Phat535 Posted October 28, 2004 Author Report Posted October 28, 2004 why will I have trouble with a mod plate? You only need to upgrade brakes on cars before 1971 when doing an engine conversion. And even then there has to be a certain amount of increase in the engine displacement before an upgraded is needed. As for the clutch concern....what car should I ask for a clutch for? A 4AGZE clutch flywheel apparently won't fit into the T50 bellhousing I was told A flywheel from a 4AGE is slightly smaller isn't it? were there any aus delivered cars with a RWD 4AGE so I can just go buy a clutch/flywheel for that? Dave Quote
Redwarf Posted October 28, 2004 Report Posted October 28, 2004 If you're northside BNE or Sunny coast, I can put you onto a custom clutch... Quote
Phat535 Posted October 28, 2004 Author Report Posted October 28, 2004 But the reason you are being told a GZE clutch wont fit is GZE is Front Wheel Drive and has a FWD gearbox :jason: hehe I do realise that a FWD clutch can't be used I was refering to the flywheel being an inch or so to tall to fit into the T50 bellhousing Quote
Phat535 Posted October 29, 2004 Author Report Posted October 29, 2004 If you're northside BNE or Sunny coast, I can put you onto a custom clutch... what kind of $$$ would we be talking? Quote
mumblezzz Posted October 29, 2004 Report Posted October 29, 2004 AFAIK any 4age flywheel can be used as well as the approprate clutch. ie AE92 flywheel + AE92 clutch. Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 the 4agze flywheel is slightly larger i beleive, but id still use it. its the box id be concerned about... are you planning on power upgrades? hard driving? a t50 is fine on a 4age but whack any serious power thru it and itll break. the ae71 fly wont even bolt on to the crank Quote
Phat535 Posted October 31, 2004 Author Report Posted October 31, 2004 the 4agze flywheel is slightly larger i beleive, but id still use it. you can't use it it doesn't fit in the T50 bellhousing Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted October 31, 2004 Report Posted October 31, 2004 i didnt quite phrase that the way i intended.. what i meant was id use the 4agze flywheel, but not a t50. id go the w55 straight up. that way when/if you plan any power upgrades youv got the running gear to handle it Quote
OverDose Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 dump the motor in with bare basics to drive and get mod platethen come back out again straight away and start on mods I'm pretty sure they wont be happy with the stock AE71 brakes either. i hear there fine Quote
demuire Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 you can't use itit doesn't fit in the T50 bellhousing Are you sure? Isn't the 4AGZE flywheel the same as the smallport flywheel (the bigger of the 2 types that came with 4AGE's). If so, I'm using the smallport flywheel and it fits in my T50 bellhousing... Quote
