Teddy Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Jason -> you are sticking to HHO2 or what ever the paint code is "white" ! As the Cash director, i say you keep your money as it will be needed. ! Quote

KE70MAN Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 hey everybody, this same topic has come to my attention. i have decided to respray my ke70. its the wattle gold or yellow colour and i plan to sand it back and paint right on over. i don't want a million dollar job, just sumthin different. is there any serious problem with using spray paint-in a can? also i was thinking of colour.. any suggestions? cheers Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Spraycan paintjobs can be semi effective, not really how I would want to tackle a paint job. Just remember, a paint job is only as good as the preparation you put into it.. Quote
demuire Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Doing it with spray cans will most probably cost more in the long run, and most probably won't look as good either. Quote
Redwarf Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Painting over the original colour is fine. We did that with Bluey. As stated above, preparation is the key. Don't do a whole car out of a can, unless you're some kind of guru. It will, odds on, look crap. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 On this note, I've seen a bonnet that was painted with a paint roller and paintbrush before, was quite a good job too, he he he.. Quote
Teddy Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 hehehe sounds like a good bodgie dodgie :D Quote
OverDose Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 for those of you who have painted your own cars you have any photos? cheers Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 my car was done at home in the shed.. Quote
Teddy Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Bahahah You call that a shed? id call that larger than my future home :D Quote
David[RL] Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 (edited) If you are in a hurry ( like I was.. ) the paint job will be horible... The condition it was when it was 'new' to me..: then I decided to paint it black... I did it outside.. and it began to rain at the end.. So the result was not good.. I did it with a compressor and spray-thing hehe..: then I wanted something new ( again ) ( the plans was to paint it orange but the color wasn't what I excepted.. So I painted it white with black(not glossy.. but matt? ) hood ...: Don't hurry to get finished like I did.. Take your time..:D ( I'm not yet finished with the white/black yet.. 1 more layer and it's 100% perfect :P ( almost perfect ) Edited February 4, 2005 by David Quote
Medicine_Man Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 God, it must be terrible to paint in the snow, moisture in the paint and all.. but still at the end of the day, as long as it goes fast, who cares what it looks like, he he he :D Quote
demuire Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Looks... like my car (white with black bonnet) :D Are you painting it in the snow? Isn't there a minimum temperature for painting? Quote
David[RL] Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 hehe, that's right.. I don't care if it looks bad or good as long as it goes like hell!! :D it goes great, not as fast as my ae86.. but good enough for being a daily drifter :S I'm considdering moving the ae86 parts over too my ke70.. 170hk 4age, quaife gearbox, quaife quick-ratio steering.. bilstein suspension.. etc.. but then I have no ae86 :P, And if I want to register my ae86 to get license plates it will cost me about USD$2000 .. hmmm *thinking* Quote
