demuire Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I've found a set of these in one of my boxes - are these for a 4K? Or 4AGE? Did a quick look around the web and it looks like it's for a 4A, but from memory my 4AGE took iridium plugs (or something to that effect)? Quote
dfunkt Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 i also have a set of these on my shelf for my 4K Quote
Raven Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 (edited) 4K/4K-C Plugs NGK - BP5EY AC Delco - 43XLS Denso - W16EXU-1 4AGE Plugs From 1986-88 NGK - BCPRE5-11 (1.1mm Gap) AC Delco - FR2LS 4AGE Plugs From 1989 onwards NGK - BKR6EP-8 (0.8mm Gap) I could probably cross-reference these over at work to Bosch plugs, but NGK, AC Delco and Denso plugs outweigh the effort of even wanting to do that as Bosch plugs arent all that great. *Added this to the Knowledge Base/FAQ as well. Raven Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Those plugs are set from the factory so no need to include the gap :( The number at the end of the part number, being either 8 or 11 in this instance, indicates the plug gap. :( Quote
Xany Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 (edited) And while talking about K engine spark plugs..... If you have a 5K dished piston engine, you may use the longer electrode spark plugs from an EA falcon. Part No. BRE527Y-11 They have a 1.1mm gap so you will have to reduce the gap to .8mm for a K engine. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A DISHED PISTON 5K FIRST!!!!! Putting these spark plugs in a normal flat piston engine will damage something for sure. Edited July 13, 2008 by Xany Quote
Taz_Rx Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Those plugs are set from the factory so no need to include the gap :D Like hell they are!!!! :( Yeah I know they're supposed to be, but never are, so an extra 2 minutes will a feeler guage is always a good idea! :( Quote
demuire Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Cool, so they're 4K plugs. Next question: Does anyone want them? Free to a good home. Quote
beerhead Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Iridium and platinum plugs can be damaged by gapping them, they've only got a really thin coat of noble metal, and if you chip it they'll corrode. Like hell they are!!!! :( Yeah I know they're supposed to be, but never are, so an extra 2 minutes will a feeler guage is always a good idea! :( Quote
