Jason Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 I just got a 4agze, with a shot S/C. Well i assume its dead because of the crazy size of the over drive wheel. any way, I've been thinking about fitting a S14 supercharger to the motor, i know there longer, but is it achievable, would all the piping flanges/bolts aliment be the same. Could i just run it away from the stock position, say swap it with the alternator. google seems to be not much help, only to say its not a direct bolt up Quote
Teddy Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 don't assume its broken untill u find out for sure its broken... some one here will be able to tell you at some point in time if its good or not. Quote
Jason Posted February 19, 2005 Author Report Posted February 19, 2005 (edited) i will almost guarantee that it will be running quiet a low boost for such a stupidly huge overdrive wheel  and i would like 2 run the stock pulley so i dint put to much unwanted stress on the water pump. since it wont have to work so hard to produce the same boost, although i do realizes it will put more strain on the output Edited February 19, 2005 by Jason Quote
irokin Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Your jumping the gun a bit saying its screwed. From memory looking at the picture you posted, it looks like a stock pulley. A bigger wheel is gonna be UNDER driven hence running lower boost (or are you talking about a crank pulley?). Keep in mind that they have electric lockup clutches that free wheel when no power is applied to them from the ECU. SC14 is the same size except deeper (more distance to the rear from the pulley, about 62mm). So if it fits then yay for you but I think you'll find it will hit the engine mount or come very close. If an SC12 is running 10psi then an SC14 will be running 14.5psi (working on sea level and same inlet outlet temperatures for both superchargers and very rough calculations). As you over drive the SC14 the boost pressure is gonna rise somewhat exponentially compared to the SC12. Quote
Jason Posted February 19, 2005 Author Report Posted February 19, 2005 (edited) the over drive pulley is connected directly to the drive shaft :insane: thus giving a larger ratio, drive the SC faster, but also the alternator and pump faster... not so good, teddy can vouch for me, the pulley is MUCH bigger. and thats the thing, i don't want to over drive anythink, except boost :D Edited February 19, 2005 by Jason Quote
Teddy Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 can u get larger wheels for the alternator & water pump ? Quote
Jason Posted February 19, 2005 Author Report Posted February 19, 2005 prob the best way would be to get a smaller wheel for the S/C. hmmmm, i wonder if i can use the school CNC lathe??????????? that would be cool Quote
irokin Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 yea I just saw the picture. You can get underdrive pulleys (from NEVO) for the altenator and water pump, but I recon you'll start running out of room. Maybe remove the clutch from the supercharger and put a smaller wheel on there. Thats what the V8 guys do. I don't think Id be running an SC14 on that crank pulley. Your asking for BIG engine problems if your not prepared to keep the fuel up. Quote
Jason Posted February 19, 2005 Author Report Posted February 19, 2005 (edited) if i did get the S14 i would run the stock pully, i have it just had an idear, how hard would it to be to modify it so the SC runs on it own belt? (assuming i had the right type of pully) Edited February 19, 2005 by Jason Quote
irokin Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 beats me. I take it the front pulley is for the Aircon pump? If it is just re drill the bracket or make a new one for the supercharger to sit it forward a cm or so. Quote
NickZ Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 the sc-14 is quite larger unit all over, it will need a bit of reworking to make it fit...Use the clutch, youll have problems if you don't...EG with the standard setup of the throttle body being before the charger when you back off the air almosts stops flowing and the engine slows down the standard ecu cuts the clutch, but without the clutch the engine will run on untill is uses all the boost left over and put heaps of load on the engine trying to turn a air compressor that can't suck air in all rubber pipes get sucked in too, ive tried this and its not very healthy for pullys, belts, and engines stalling. styler Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) this is asked a lot on toymods, do a search toymods Edited February 23, 2005 by styler Quote
Redwarf Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I think you'll find most people in here are all regular browsers on Toyomods..... This is more just a constructive conversation... Quote
Jason Posted February 23, 2005 Author Report Posted February 23, 2005 a lot of people ask it, not many do it  so i end up getting post like "search" and then i get 1000's of useless matches that say 'search' or end up saying, yes its possible Quote
