TRD ke70 Posted November 8, 2010 Author Report Posted November 8, 2010 Cam, the extractors are 4-1,with 1 1/2" primaries, they are good for hi rpm, but the we built the engine more for torque. But the torque we were looking for was from 4000. The old engine was limited to 7500 rpm because the head just couldn't flow enough air for any more. The in take manifolds will take 45's and you are right about the step with 40's on it. Who ever does buy it will be told or shown how to get the best out of the extractors and manifolds, but at the end of the day it'll be up to them what they do. We would have sold the whole engine complete, but the head is shagged and it's worth more in parts. Quote
jimi91 Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 oh ok sounds good mate hope for the best and ull get the right price :P see ya jimi Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 17, 2010 Author Report Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) Another little milestone happened in the weekend, we managed to bleed the brakes and have no leaks (yet!!) Re-done the breather pipes, and Tony finished the wiring for the fuel tank. we are now in the process of working out what we need in the way of Carbon Fiber and kevlar, for the door panels and sump guard. planning to start to make the moulds for the glass bumpers, boot and bonnet within the next couple of weeks as well. jimi91 Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 wow great work guys and it sounds like ur getting there!!! how much will all the Carbon Fiber and kevlar cost ya??? or will ya get it through a mate ?? keep it up guys see ya jimi Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 17, 2010 Author Report Posted November 17, 2010 Jimi, Not sure of the cost as yet, think around the $500-600 mark for everything. There are a couple of suppliers close by who are helpful and reasonably cheap. Trev, I want too, but she's still not ready, it'll happen, one day!! Quote
jimi91 Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 oh ok wow thats pretty good price :o yeah when is first drive lol :hmm: see ya jimi Quote
rob323 Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I'm hoping to vacuum bag my carbon fibre light pod this weekend Chris. Last chance to come and help. I'm just using my compressor for the vacuum pump (but can pull 25 Inch Hg of vacuum). You guys still got that AC vacuum pump? I did a bagging test last night and it still had perfect vacuum this morning so it's a green light for Saturday. I can get you some sheets of glass too if you want to use them to make some flat panels. I too am looking to making some door cards and trim panels for the rear of my shopping trolley at some stage. If you buy some kevlar, let me know as I'm after 2m2 for my fuel tank guard. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 18, 2010 Author Report Posted November 18, 2010 Yeah, i still have my A/C vac pump, that's what i was going to use. We're hoping to get our stuff next weekend, i can get a price on the4 kevlar for you then. Good luck with the light pod, I know Marius had some fun with his, but the mould looks great now. Our door panels won't be flat, they need recesses for the door handles, so glass is out. Thanks all the same Rob. Quote
rob323 Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 My door panels are just going to be overlays, but with the recesses to allow for the cage. Should look a bit nicer than the hacked up trims that I currently have. You guys working on it on Sunday? If so, I'll get my finger out and come around. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 Yeah, hoping to be there after lunch sometime, come on over and have a look. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 21, 2010 Author Report Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) Got a few more jobs done today. Tony finished re-torquing the head. Myself, i spent the day doing some little jobs around the car. Like fitting the gear stick (after cleaning and repainting it), cleaning up the inner guard protection and replacing the door hinge bolts with alloy ones. The diff breather has been cleaned and fitted and the fuel tank piping and wiring has finally been finished, everything works great.(thanks Des) Edited November 21, 2010 by TRD ke70 Quote
