hey, one of my mates who owns a performance shop "littles perforance" said to me a Holley 350cfm would be ideal for a 1.3 jetted to suit of course. ive been thinking 40mm= 250 cfm so twin 40mm carbs on a 4k = 500 cfm.... so really its nothing compared. Just wondering what people have to say about the idea and if anyone has tryed it or know of someone trying it?? :yes:

i guess u might be able to get away with it but the only problem u might face is monting the holley to your car then gettin it to run right without over fueling to much

A 350 was only just small enough to run properly on my 179 (2.8L) torana, when jetted suitably it ran okay but still wouldnt idle when cold.

 

Though I did put a 750cfm rochester quadrajet on my 253ci (4.2L) vb commodore, that thing goes wild. One day I will finish it off.

It is difficult to get one of these to run properly on a 3.3 let alone a 1.3!!

Yes so everyone ses... but i don't get how two 40mm webers on a 4k (500cfm) go so great so why exactly is a 350 too big??

it's because of the the venturi sizes not the size of the butterflies, it's all about air speed not CFM.

Fuel metering has a lot to do with it, holleys meter fuel for the whole engine, side draughts meter the fuel per cylinder.

obviously there's more to it but that's the basic's.

used in tuning webbers is something called chokes, which in effect reduces the side of the barrel.

 

On a 4k they are probably using 20mm chokes to get the carbys small enough.

 

No you cannot buy chokes for a 350 holley.

The problem with the 350 on Holden and Ford 6's is that it's not really suited to engines with short intake manifolds. More suited to the engines with a longer manifold. But that what ive been told on Oldholden.com. Considering the 4k is only a 4 banger the intake manifold would be shorter again, Aswel as the massive overkill it would be for a 1.3L

 

A more suited carb for the holden 6's is a Weber 34ADM off a 3.3Lt Falcon six or the 250 six which needs minor rejetting to suit your size 6.
