Good point, yes i suppose they can if the diaphragm tears.

Id pull it out and check it ASAP. Unscrew the top half of the pump and inspect the rubber diaphragm for holes etc.

You should have noticed running issues with a leaky diaphragm though, like leaning out/stalling at high revs.

Yeh by the way shaun, yes this is bad. Don't drive it until you've determined the problem.

If your motor doesn't go bang, you might do some damage thanks to the new lubrication properties of the oil haha.

Yes K motor pumps if they tear will leak into the sump...BUT

Toyota put a small hole in a pumps base so if it tears fuel will leak out there. Well this shitty hole gets blocked still in the box pump comes in. I don't think I have ever seen mine unblocked attracts oily shit.

So id check the oil.

Mine went one day I had like no fuel in the tank (ws on way to servo) and lost fuel in carby and gone oh I'm out car was like 1km from home get home to put mower fuel in then go and noticed hey I can smell fuel and well I looked and found. So be careful don't wanna wash your motor out..LOL

Cheers

can go both ways they have 2 seals 1 for oil 1 for petrol so you can fill your sump up with fuel and you can fill the fuel system up with oil. i've seen people reco a motor because of a dodgy fuel pump
