philbey Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 You sure it wasn't just some water vapour? Quote
Des Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Can the fuel pumps leak into the engine on K motors ? Quote
philbey Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Good point, yes i suppose they can if the diaphragm tears. Id pull it out and check it ASAP. Unscrew the top half of the pump and inspect the rubber diaphragm for holes etc. You should have noticed running issues with a leaky diaphragm though, like leaning out/stalling at high revs. Quote
Teddy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 yeah i had a fuel pump let go on me a few months ago, got 100 kms to the tank of fuel and went - woha, wtf ? Oil level was high, smelt horrid, was very thin.. lol, luckily she didnt go boooooom Quote
philbey Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) Yeh by the way shaun, yes this is bad. Don't drive it until you've determined the problem. If your motor doesn't go bang, you might do some damage thanks to the new lubrication properties of the oil haha. Edited January 8, 2009 by philbey Quote
Trev Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Lucky it's not a diesel, It would of ran on its own vapours. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Ill join teddys club. Yes K motor pumps if they tear will leak into the sump...BUT Toyota put a small hole in a pumps base so if it tears fuel will leak out there. Well this shitty hole gets blocked still in the box pump comes in. I don't think I have ever seen mine unblocked attracts oily shit. So id check the oil. Mine went one day I had like no fuel in the tank (ws on way to servo) and lost fuel in carby and gone oh I'm out car was like 1km from home get home to put mower fuel in then go and noticed hey I can smell fuel and well I looked and found. So be careful don't wanna wash your motor out..LOL Cheers Cameron Quote
curly Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 can go both ways they have 2 seals 1 for oil 1 for petrol so you can fill your sump up with fuel and you can fill the fuel system up with oil. i've seen people reco a motor because of a dodgy fuel pump Quote

(but that mite be the fuel pump valve leaking) if it goes boooom then ill have to put my 5k in sooner lol cheers thanks sofar guy's. Quote
