My 1997 Conquest didnt come with an owners manual, so I am not sure where the jack points are.

 

Where exactly can I jack the car up from the front in order to do an oil service. Can some please scan a photo from the manual?

Also where is it safe to place the jack stands?

If you jack up with a trolley jack, place the pad on the crossmember in the middle of the car, underneath the engine. If you're jacking up with scissor jacks at the side of the car, there are notches in the sills just behind the front wheel. Place the jack in-between the slits. Chassis stands go in the same place (if they have a slotted head to take the sill), or slightly inboard on to the channels if they have a flat/shallow head.

as Hiro said, Trolley jack on the engine cradle and away you go, just be careful of it slipping as you get higher.

 

Jack stands about half a foot behind the wheel arch where the A pillar is then let it down slowly.

Be careful with your trolley jack positioning - if you jack on the wrong bit, you risk bending stuff!

I like to find the beefiest part of the subframe - something that looks load-bearing and has plenty of welds.

 

Can't say I've ever had a corolla on stands ... I use a hoist :D

 

Have you considered using ramps and chocks? I know my dad used them all the time. You do have to be on flat ground - with any kind of lifting or jacking device.

Jack points are very important not to be confused with Jack-off points.
