hilux05 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 also very interested if they wouldnt mind a "mature" age apprentice... what is the std award for an app mechanic anyway?? Quote
coln72 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Any problems if I pass this onto the careers guy at school? Quote
SLW42 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 standard apprentice wage is like 6 dollars 90 cents it is so hard and would be so hard for a mature age apprentice to work 38 hrs a week on $6.90 i know that because thats what i was on at mercury motorsport would be heaps cool to do this job should send in an email lol Quote
Rola Drifter Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 A mate of mine just started working as a 1st year apprentice at k-mart tyre n auto on the coast and he's mature age taking home $500 a week, so i think its a bit more than 6.90 an hour. But with that being said, it also depends on the workplace possibly whether its a small workshop that only employs a few people & need to keep costs down or if the workplace wants incentives from the government to give the mature ages a go. drc_ke20 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 stuff the pay rate,if anyone wants a job this would be a good chance to grab a career as many company is shutting down or laying off employees???? anyone without a job should grab this or thinking of a change???it would be fun......think of the opportunity... :bash: Quote
SLW42 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 i didnt say that was the base rate for a mature age apprentice but i think that is close 2 the base rate for an apprentice that is like 17 or so Quote

D1doony Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 you guys are all idiots, i would have left my company to go over here. imagine what kinda work this could lead too ? option a) work on shitboxes all day every day dropping oil, changing oil filter, occasional brake job, timing belt job, maybe throw in some rocker cover gaskets or option b) work on some pretty sweet cars doing what i suspect to be a shitload of interesting work, something in which you will actually enjoy, inspiration for your own car etc etc. Quote
