SLO-030 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 7K's came out with both EFI and carby'd. Ive been told that you can use either 7k mounts. 3/4/5k mounts can be used, but may make the engine sit a little bit higher. Quote
Teddy Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 it will not bolt in. It is wider than any other K motor. The mounts need to be "massaged". The drive train needs to be upgraded - gearbox, tailshaft, diff. Rear diff will have larger breaks, which means you'll need to even up the fronts by upgrading them as well. Chances are you'll want to get the thing boosted on the brakes. Most of the gearbox's are hydrolic clutch assy, which means you'll need to integrate a hydo pedal box assy. Oh, and the sumps need to be quite heavily modified. Bolt in = absolutely not. i would love to find this unique source of info which keeps providing the world with "7k's just Bolt in". hahaha :lolcry: Quote
SLO-030 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 From what ive read, the 7k is wider but the original 7k mounts are thinner which compensates. pretty sure there wss a member in vic (78 7k Rolla i think) who used the standard 3k mounts. Quote

So does this mean you would need a t50 or something to run a 7k?? I always thought you could just use a normal K gearbox. :lolcry: Quote

Just the sump needs a little tap to make it clear.. Standard driveline will be fine as long as you don't give it complete death all the time ,but obviously youll probably end up breaking things with a 4 or 5k anyways if you abuse it enuf.. Great conversion from what iv heard and seen.. I havent done this conversion myself but it was only last week i was having a chat to a guy with one in his ke30 over here in New Zealand and he said it was 'as easy as bolt in and away you go pretty much'.. Yes, i used standard 3k mounts but the sump needed to be seriously modified to clear the crossmember. You can use the standard gearbox. Sam Where are people sourcing their info from? Rubbish a little tap will help the sump clear, i'm presuming it could be even less clearance in an older rolla. Do not consider this conversion if you are strapped for cash and/or not very mechanically minded/experienced/talented. Quote
dfunkt Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Do not consider this conversion if you are strapped for cash and/or not very mechanically minded/experienced/talented. says the one who still hasn't got a proper gearbox :laff: :lolcry: Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) The source poeople are getting this from (7k same size as other k engines) is Rollaclub!! Someone linked to the thread when asking about a 5k on Friday. Link All K blocks have the same bellhousing studs and engine mount points, so you can drop a 7K in place of your 1K without a problem. Someone please alter this! Edited March 15, 2009 by 67Rolla-Ken Quote

irokin Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Someone please alter this! Everyones got access.... that means :lolcry: you could! Quote
