I disagree. In shape and size they may nothing in common, but in terms of how their internal moving parts work, they are identical to any Yamaha shim over bucket system through to the present.

They're not necessarily similar to a bike head, just designed by a company that also makes bikes and bike engines.

I was saying that they aren't a bike head, nor are they designed like a bike head in general, but it should be hardly surprising that they share some common features with some Yamaha bike heads seeing as how Yamaha designed it.

It would be like Ducati designing a head for a road car and using desmodromic valves - it's their signature but not a feature unique to bikes (incredibly rare these days though). If you get what I mean.....

Surprised that they're under bucket, but how does this makes the valve train not similar to a yamaha motorbike?

Straight from the dictionary:

sim⋅i⋅lar

/ˈsɪmələr/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sim-uh-ler] Show IPA

–adjective

1. having a likeness or resemblance, esp. in a general way: two similar houses.

2. Geometry. (of figures) having the same shape; having corresponding sides proportional and corresponding angles equal: similar triangles.

Toyota and Yamaha have similar heads in likeness of there valve trains.

I compared YZF450 5V heads and a 20V 4age head recently, and they are nearly identical in port design and valve angles.

BTW, we were talking about yamaha and toyota heads, not interested in ducatti's.

thats cos yamaha makes the "G" heads for Toyota.

i was merely pointing out a matter of semantics regarding shim under bucket valve train.

P.S. My celica is sold. Someone now find me a decent KE70 :)

Ok i have a ke 35 with an 18rg in it so engine bay and crossmember set up is similar, as stated you need a rear sump so hilux 18r sump and pickup fixes that, a w50 box fits with some fabrication to the existing crossmember, you need a new exhaust a shortened tailshaft and a better diff because you will break the original one.

Only real problem in mine is clearance between carbies and master cylinders, not an issue for you as your master cylinder is on the opposite side.

can't see why it wouldn't fit yours but wont be a simple conversion but shouldnt be to difficult either
