hey guys as i have recently got a locker in my ke70 as i have been sliding the engine is dying off and loosing all its power as soon as the car kicks out and starts sliding.

i have changed the dizzy leads and coil pack as this still didnt work i took dizzy apart and sleaned all the points etc. could this dizzy be rooted aswell?

 

has anyone had this problem before and if so how did u fix it?

My personal favourite to this question though is how long is a piece of string?

 

Could be the fact that it just doesnt have power, being a 4K.

 

It could also be the fact that the float is incorrectly set, causing the motor to flood under the lateral hektik force that is being applied in the attempt to be fully sick and drift on the street.

i know plenty of people who don't have issues with lockers and 4ks. plenty of people that do 'hektik skids' as you put it. for someone who is a senior member a little more maturity and a helpful reply to someone who is obviously new here wouldn't go astray.

Is it a K series motor. Has it only been happening since you've been drifting it?

 

Probably something to do with the oil or fuel surging cause of the sliding.

i had a look through couldnt realy find the answer so i thought i ask for help if u don't wana help then don't.

 

its a 4k-c motor and its been doing it since i got it even with no locker the locker just made it worse .... it also hapens when u rev it in neutral...

so you just need to define the problem, such as during hi rpm in neutral it dies or stutters ? like its not getting any fuel or spark under load ?

 

and when driving once you put the car under stress and load same thing ?

 

could be a number of things start with vacum leaks from every possible point, loose bolts on the manifold body itself and then check the manifold is sealing against the head and carby. Check booster not loosing vac and all other lines gaskets ect.

 

then check your point gap and make sure all wires connected between the dizzy and the coil ect is tight and insulated.

 

fuel filter blocked ? feed line to carby kinked or blocked? fuel pump rooted ? fuel float level shouldnt really be an issue unless the carby has been played about with. check all these and you may find your answer whist checking.

thanks hadnt thought of the fuel filter yet but i wil check all that 2moro nite

 

all the leads to coil and dizzy are tight i checked all that 2day changed coil pack and leads etc still happened

 

but will have a look at fuel lines etc 2moro thanks heaps

i have just changed fuel filter and as instructed by a mechanic swapped the 1st and 4th spark plug around and turned over the engine while pumping the accelerator until it exploded which cleaned out the carby and it seems to have fixed the problem :hmm:
