DX_COROLLA Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 i have a ke70 1981 dx corolla, I was wondering if there is another rear end (LSD diff, Axles and disc brakes) from another car that would just bolt straight in to my car, if not one which would only need alittle modifacation? has to incorperate suspension setup of origanal car if not again could do some small modifacation. redae71 Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 T-18 and JDM AE86 bolt straight in and have thicker axles and LSD... have heard of some using Tarago diffs as well but they require modification Quote

You do not really need a separate topic for each area of your car. :y: If you have any questions are reading that, come back to us :) Quote

DX_COROLLA Posted May 15, 2009 Author Report Posted May 15, 2009 sorry about all the posts, i'm new to this website and didn't know about that page. I read through it and it said that an R31 rear end fits into the Ke70, does anyone know how much modifacation is required with that Quote
the witzl Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) you need a diff shop to cut the mounts off your stock diff and weld them onto the R31 diff axle. Then you will need a modified tailshaft, brake lines and handbrake cables, and the diff will probably need shorteneing A more viable option is a Volvo diff (aka, Dana30 diff). Tough, cheap, have disc brakes already, and LSD/locking centres are readily available for them. That's what I'm putting into my KE70, but mine is also getting a 350-400HP turbo 18RG so it needs an upgrade. But the question is - why do you need an LSD? Edited May 25, 2009 by the witzl Quote
7FOUR7 Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 what model volvo is the diff from and what mods need to be carried out to make fit into a ksev? Quote
ke70dave Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 you think a differential from a VOLVO is just going to bolt into your ke70? its the same with any diffs you want to steal from any cars, custom mounts, custom tailshaft, custom handbrake cables and maybe custom brake lines. and as for where the Dana30 diff comes from? google it. i just found the info quite quickly, but I'm not going to tell you! hmm so this is quite an old thread..... altezzaclub Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 ...and its probably an old Volvo and just as rare as JDM AE86s... Th lack of LSD is a distinct weak spot in the whole KE70 scene. Motor/gearbox options seem more available and easier to fit than a lightweight diff with an LSD. Its a shame. Quote
ke70dave Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 ...and its probably an old Volvo and just as rare as JDM AE86s... http://people.physics.anu.edu.au/~amh110/Diff_LSD/diff_lsd_volvo_dana.htm some pretty good info there, they seem to be fairly abundant. JDM 86 disc rear ends are obtainable through importers quite easily, just the price is quite high. also seems that the volvo and jeep use this diff, and some parts are interchangable. sounds like a bit of hard work trying to find those parts. but its a pretty chunky diff thats for sure. 7FOUR7 Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) you think a differential from a VOLVO is just going to bolt into your ke70? Sorry Dave I can't see where I said that I thought a Volvo diff would bolt straight into my ke70? Better to dig up an old thread then to start a new one with a question that's relevant to this one I thought. Edited September 17, 2010 by 7FOUR7 Quote
