Evan G Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 i rang 2 places up and both quoted me $250 for all the parts needed for a 5 manual conversion (gearbox, tailshaft, xmember, clutch, flywheel, speedo cable, pedalbox anything else i need?) i rang toyrolla in melbourne and they quoted me $500 and i asked if that was fitted? LOL laughed and hung up go f@$k yourself toyrolla anyways I'm guessing 250 is a good price? any thoughts? Evan. Quote
Felix Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 $250 sounds pretty good to me for everything. Check out the prices people want for just a 5 speed in the for sale section, and you will find that is pretty good value. Especially if the seller offers some sort of guarantee on the box. Quote

towe001 Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Being a '55 you'll also have mod the gearbox x-member, cause the auto version doesn't have the mounts for it Quote
Evan G Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 Being a '55 you'll also have mod the gearbox x-member, cause the auto version doesn't have the mounts for it or just get the cross member from the donor ke55? Quote
towe001 Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 You can but you would have to weld the auto x-member to it. The x-members sit in different spots. The manual version sits a couple of inches further to the front of the car then the auto version. If the car was the ke30 it'd just be a case of bolting the x-member to the box and the car, but the ke55 only has the mounts for what type of box was used in the car. So in your case being auto you wouldn't have the mounts for the manual box. Sucks being a '55 Quote

parrot Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 I also reckon that's a pretty good price, though presumably you need to go and pull all the bits out of a car yourself, since it is pickapart. It's so cheap, I don't blame Toyrolla for hanging up on you...... Quote
