Taz_Rx Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 For starter...... Is it under PRESSURE or VACUME!? Your probably on the right track with the charcoal canister though. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 For starter...... Is it under PRESSURE or VACUME!? Your probably on the right track with the charcoal canister though. Either the breather line or charcoal cannister is blocked. Have a very close look at all the fuel lines with the car running on a hoist. Check for leaks and stuff. Quote
Evan G Posted June 9, 2009 Author Report Posted June 9, 2009 its under pressure like PSSHHHHHHH. i remove the purge vacuum line that goes to the carb, suck on on the hose and got high, so purge valve is working and the fuel line is all cracked to the fuel filter but not leaking???? no farking idea how to test the carcole canister it self? more surgestions? Quote
irokin Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 It will go PSSHHHH when its under vacuum too but that isn't abnormal for a fuel tank. My corolla does it, my silvia does it, my brothers honda jazz does it and my familys old commodore did it too. Quote
Evan G Posted June 10, 2009 Author Report Posted June 10, 2009 but the charcole canister is there so the fuel vapours doesnt get vented to the atmosphere, its not under vacuum its getting pressurized because i straight away smell fuel and my old man complained about a smell fuel in the cabin..... any1 have any way to test the charcole canister????? help? Taz_Rx Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 HOW do you suppose the tank is getting pressure in it? what is making the pressure? Quote
sammo[RL] Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 My girlfriends 2003 focus did that every time i opened it. most of the time it did it more often when the tank was near empty. The rolla does it to. I think its normal.... Quote

Now it pressurises all the time, but has no ill effect other than a faint fuell smell from time to time. Just to demonstrate what happens to fuel inside a fuel tank, grab a plastic soft dring bottle and put a little bit of your fuel in it and shake, or even leave it in the sun for a short while. You`ll be amazed how much pressure it builds up all by itself. I`m not sure if corolla`s run a vented fuel cap or not, but that is worth checking also. See ya and good luck. Quote
