SLO-030 Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 I wound my rattly old 4k/4spd out to about 130-140 without a hassle. has a blown out rear muffler stuffed resi. a KE70 shifter position will line up with the rear of the auto shifter hole. Just needs to be widened a smidge, drivers side on mine. ALSO, work out where the mount and crossmember end up. we found out the hard way with my KE70 5spd into my originally auto ke30. I have a crossmember and mount (now 1 piece) to suit this swap. probably not the most proffesional way of doing it but if your keen PM me. Quote
Jono Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 i had 4.33:1 borgy diff and a t50 and it was horrible on the freeway, needed another gear badly. only positive was that it would start spooling instantly. Quote
Radkid Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 i drive a KE55 with an auto 3sp back an forth highways all the time at 100-110 i don't have a problem with the booming of engine noise when i put the foot down, i actually like it when i have to accelerate to over take someone cause it sends a nice mini beast roar which never fails to raise passengers eyebrows, even then its quite comfortable .. you surely will be able to hold conversations so its not bad at all. Felix Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) My ke15 has a nice warmed over 5k with ke70 5speed and small diameter 185/60/13 tyres. With the old 4.55 diff it would pull 4000rpm in 5th on the cruise at 105km/h. I changed it to a 4.33 diff and it now does 3750 in 5th at 105 km/h. A sixth gear would be nice. The motor isn't stressed at all. It loves it (will willingly rev to 8500), you can pull out and easily pass in 5th from 80km/h. It has excellent overtaking power, the missus has even passed 5 cars in one overtaking move in it. 8/ Great for getting past a line of traffic on country roads. It is fairly noisy, especially when on the loud pedal. Listen to the sound file in my sig with my mobile phone sitting on my lap with the drivers window down. Edited June 17, 2009 by Felix Quote
