Hey guys..

 

just a quick question..

 

on a std exhaust for a ke70 with a 4k it has a middle resonator and end muffler..

 

i took the rear muffler off and its fukn loud.. why is that?.. and i think it needs the flange gasket replace(manifold to pipe gasket)..

 

in doing that will it quieten things up? a little bit..

the resonator does almost nothing to quiten down the exhaust, gives it a deeper tone.

replacing the flange thing wont do much either, maybe you should get a muffler

you can get different size ones to make different noise levels

i thought it was just that i took the muffler off.. ill prob just get a hot dog and a tip and stick it in the spot of the muffler..

 

it screams it tits off under full noise :dance:

A hot dog is a resonator... you want a sports (straight-thru) muffler. Can buy them at any exhaust shop. Make sure you

buy one for the right size pipe!

goodluck finding a sports muffler for that size pipe, maybe a motorbike muffler for a 1600cc bike or something, can get them hell cheap off ebay and they actualy look quite good and most are droopy tip also

if you are running a standard engine, get a triple flow rear muffler and run no bigger than a 2" tip. It will sound nice enough to get attention but will not be too loud and you won't get booked for it.

 

You DO need to run a muffler or else it WILL be TOO loud!!

HAHA this is classic.

Me and my mates often disconnect the flange after the resonator and cable tie the rest to the underneath of the car and go for a drive.

Gets a lot of attention from the cops, especially when you go roaring past Newcaste station. :dance:

Sounds like shit on full acceleration, when you are coming down a hill it pops and gurgles and sounds great. :yes:

traditionally you use one of the bolts to bolt the rear exhaust flange to the front flange but off centre so it isn't hooked up.

 

makes it sound like a saddlefrigger exhaust.... not something I'd be proud of...

 

if you want a nice sounding exhaust, run a muffler. I suppose it all depends on your definition of nice though.

yeh like if you want deep droney noise get a large muffler, ive got a RO racing muffler 2" in 3" out and it sounds beautiful on hard accel, nice and quiet on cruise and has race sounding backfire when deccelerating.

 

try find a muffler that you like then just get a few pipe bends from a exhaust place and make your own tip with a welder and a hacksaw
