Taz_Rx Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Nice manifold! :y: FYI, when you upload pics here it will automatically resize then into those black boxes. It sort of handy not to resize them before hand because if anybody wants to have a closer look they can click on the pic and zoom in. :) Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 FYI, when you upload pics here it will automatically resize then into those black boxes. It sort of handy not to resize them before hand because if anybody wants to have a closer look they can click on the pic and zoom in. :) Unless they're posting up raw images straight from the camera, in which case each photo will be in excess of say 2-3mb, and still has to load fully before cropping/resizing. I remember a few times on dialup that the photos would start to load full-size, so I'd skip down further and continue reading, then the photos would finish loading and then scale down causing the page to scroll massively downwards. Personally I downscale to 1024x768, then upload them, so they're still a decent size but not too large, and if anyone wants high-res I've got the originals on disk. Quote
the witzl Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 is that passenger side engine mount only bolted onto the block with 2 bolts? if so, i woulve taken the plate on the block further forward to also bolt into one of the other bolt holes toward the front of the block there.... and just personally, i don't like how the rubber mount is just hanging out there on flat plate with no reinforcement. I would add a brace of some kind to avoid that plate flexing and cracking over time. Otherwise, looks like an awesome build up! Keep it up :) Quote

Keep it up :) There is another bolt underneith that engine mount you can not see from that pic, there can be another bolt add to the top right corner of the mount you can see. The engine needs to come out again so I migh consider doing something with it. Thought about moving the engine back but would need a lot more mods. I want it to keep it as simple as possible for costs and if I decide to put back to original condition. It would need an absolute flogging to flex or crack that thickness plate. Its decieving from the pic but its prob 10-12mm thick, the department of infrastructure said they were fine. Quote
Chief Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 hey mate was it hard getting the supra gearbox in there did you have to make aftermarket mounts or give the tunnel a massage with the ol hammer? Quote
preso Posted August 19, 2009 Author Report Posted August 19, 2009 hey mate was it hard getting the supra gearbox in there did you have to make aftermarket mounts or give the tunnel a massage with the ol hammer? There was no modification to the tunnel at all, had the mounts made. I do plan on posting pics of these but will not get a chance to work on her till my RDO next week. Plan on pulling down the commodore diff I have for it to get it shortened and giving it a good clean for painting. I will hopefully be grinding back all the welds on the turbo manifold as well next week. Then onto manifold. Quote
Chief Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 what was the gearbox out of?? dellow said that to fit a supra box in i have to do a whole heap of mod's Quote
preso Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 what was the gearbox out of?? dellow said that to fit a supra box in i have to do a whole heap of mod's All you need to do is get a 2S or 2C bellhousing. This will couple directly to the 3sgte motor and the Dellow supra box. Trust me as Dellow is where I purchased my supra box. If you ring rolla spares or toyrolla they should have a bellhousing on the shelf. I got my bellhousing from Rolin Auto in QLD. They were all around the same price. Quote
preso Posted August 26, 2009 Author Report Posted August 26, 2009 Just a quick update: Finished all the fabrication work on my dash and now need to get it painted. This should be done in the next couple of weeks, looks sweet. I will post pics as soon as it is painted and back together. Got a RDO on friday and will be working on the old girl, I will try to remember to take pics of the gearbox mounts to post. With any luck the exhaust manifold will be close to finished as well, if so I will post pics. Fingers crossed I have more pics to post this weekend. Quote

I had to help stop the dams collapsing at the inlaws on Friday so that stopped me from working on the rolla. The good news is the exhaust manifold is finished. Will post pics when I take them. Quote

jader Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 do you mind me asking how much the gearbox was from Dellow? Did it get shipped from Sydney? Quote
preso Posted September 3, 2009 Author Report Posted September 3, 2009 (edited) do you mind me asking how much the gearbox was from Dellow? Did it get shipped from Sydney? Fully finished with 20-1/2" shifter position was $900 + Gst, I paid for shipping from Sydney. Shipping cost $50.00 on Toll Tasmania sea freight. Edited September 3, 2009 by preso Quote
