I mean, if you are going to something like that, at least get it properly machined... don't just drop a grinder on them and hope for the best. haha

some dude in that thread suggested they were just taking the carbon deposits off.

 

maybe they were, but prolly not the best idea to do it with an angle grinder.

If I were him I'd at least get the top of the pistons blasted to remove some of those nice stress concentrators!

 

I will admit that I've made very minor mods to a piston dish with a grinder. Let me just say: Steam engine.
