Need to know (if you do that is) what size jets people have in these when on a mild 4k. The secondaries on mine feel good, but the idle the power transition is way the rich, and it is doughy as hell until it hits about 2500 rpm.

 

Long shot I think, but you never know... I know Nick has one of these for his KE70, is it on there yet??

if it came off Nan esky/corty it'll be a 32/36.. which are also the perfect carb for K's :)

I don't think its accually running too rich down low.

 

I have a feeling it has to do with the carby throat sizes being to large for the motor.

with my gemini carby, no matter how hard i thrash it i still get the same economy, approx. 400kms / tank (till fuel light comes on)

Any how... At idle it is quite richbit high in the revs, it seems fine... I have an Air/Fuel meter here, so i should see what it really is... Idles i thinks should be quite lean really..

 

Just out of interest, what is your timing set at Nick?

750RPM for an Auto KE70

850RPM for a Manual KE70

 

Timing for standard KE70 is 8 deg BTDC

 

According to Gregory's service and repair manual #221 Corolla (1300 KE Series)

20 Degrees... That's fine then i think I have mine on about 18-20 degrees... Sure make a huge difference over the standard 8 degrees...

 

BTW... I checked my Air/Fuel ratios last night, and at full throttle it sits at about 11.0:1, and at idle the meter reads lean, but not sure really... it fuels up after a bit.

 

Also i would say the motor idles about 800-900rpm, but cannot be sure without a tacho.

sorry, had to dig this'un up as i know a lot about these carbs.

easiest way to tune a dft/dgv/dgav is to;

turn your idle up to when it starts to miss, usually 1,200-1,800rpm

turn your a/f mixture in or out until it smoothes out.

if you went in, you need to install a smaller progression jet

if you went out, you need a bigger one :angrybird:

I'm running a 32/36 dgav webber on my ae82 4ac. If you have the same one you will probably find its from a 2 litre cortina. The carby id should be stamped on the base plate at the front just above where it mounts on the manifold.

hey guys i think i can help 32-36 webers can be a great upgrade as long as the idling jets and primary jet are replaced with smaller items early cortina gts came out with 1300 and 1600 kent engines with webers I'm using 1600 idling jets on my 5k and it works fine maybe you could use the 1300 jets in the 4 k mine makes good power from rest to 7000 rpm its very streetable and brings back almost 400kms per tank depending on how you drive as mines a daily driver fuel consumpsion was a main piroity plus you great that unmistakble weber induction roar mines louder than the exhaust at full song :( long live the 5k
