comtoy Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 when i was researching engine options for the triton i found out that the mitsubishi FTO had two types of v6's in them a 1.6L and 2L and also they came as turbo, naturally aspirated and twin turbo now i'm thinking if thats the case because of the size of litres in these motors does that mean you could probably fit one of these motors into a rolla and still get it registered Quote
seabiscuit Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 They only had a 2L v6 and a 1.8L 4. The FTO? Pretty sure there'd be a turbo option for them... Read first post again Trev! Quote
comtoy Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 They only had a 2L v6 and a 1.8L 4. even still you could possible use the 2ltr in the rolla and it could still get it registered right or wrong because alot of people use 2ltr twin cam 4 bangers in there early rolla's and they can register them but I'm not to sure how reliably or strong the FTO V6's are and what the power output is or even what aftermarket parts are available for this motor because they are totally different to the other mitsubishi V6's that are available and also wasn't there a early camry that came out with a similar v6 in size wise Quote
Trev Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 The FTO? Pretty sure there'd be a turbo option for them... Read first post again Trev! Why don't you read the post again and then read mine, He said there were 2 different sized v6's. even still you could possible use the 2ltr in the rolla and it could still get it registered right or wrong because alot of people use 2ltr twin cam 4 bangers in there early rolla's and they can register them but I'm not to sure how reliably or strong the FTO V6's are and what the power output is or even what aftermarket parts are available for this motor because they are totally different to the other mitsubishi V6's that are available and also wasn't there a early camry that came out with a similar v6 in size wise People have had 3sgte's engineered in E7 & E8's so it could be a option, The atmo fto v6's aren't bad driving wise, Bit of power when you need it, I had a 05 triton 3.5 v6 for a work ute and for a weight of 2200kg's it hammered but not sure if you can do a 3.5 conversion. comtoy Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 Why don't you read the post again and then read mine, He said there were 2 different sized v6's. correct i did say that the import engine guy that i talked to said the V6 came in two sizes i new they came out with a 4cylinder just didn't know the litres of the 4cyl People have had 3sgte's engineered in E7 & E8's so it could be a option, The atmo fto v6's aren't bad driving wise, Bit of power when you need it, I had a 05 triton 3.5 v6 for a work ute and for a weight of 2200kg's it hammered but not sure if you can do a 3.5 conversion. so was the 3.5 V6 triton good to drive got any pictures of it as i have just bought a 3.5 V6 magna motor to put into my triton Quote
Trev Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 so was the 3.5 V6 triton good to drive got any pictures of it as i have just bought a 3.5 V6 magna motor to put into my triton Never got pics of the ute, It was great to drive, Heaps of torque and get up, It was a 2wd on a 4wd chassis and wheels, I will try to find some info and pm you a link. jono1986 Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 The FTO came in a twin turbo, F#@#...actually are you guys talking about the GTO cause that came out with a 3 or 3.5 litre NA or twin turbo version. what kind of manufuator makes a twin turbo front wheel drive car, thats like making death itself. As for the V6 in the GTO, since it's the same motor in the pajero, i know from experience that they chuck out plenty of torque. And power output for the motor i had which was like the base V6 (SOHC 3.0L) had 91kw's at the wheels, with worn rings..... Quote

Even the 3.0 triton v6 goes suprisingly well Ive got the same set up 2wd 4wd chasis. I was going to turn it into a mini truck but don't think i can be bothered. If they werent so heavy they would be really good Quote
jono1986 Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Ah...i think he might of made a mistake in his original thread that's alright...just bored that's all.......if you've got the 3.5l v6 get a twin turbo kit off a GTO, i mean if you can find one..... Quote

LittleRedSpirit Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) Apparently the 3.5L was a rare release, Probably why I can't find much on it, Mine had all the chrome trimming and nice steel wheels. I have an 06 Triton v6, which I bought new. Yes its a 4x2 on a 4wd chassis. There was no 3.5 litre option for any model year up to and including 06. Afaik the Tritons were only ever 3.0 litre until the start of the new shape in 07. Then they went to 3.5. The 3.0 and then the 3.5 that superseded it are both previous generation Pajero motors. The one you were driving, Trev, may well have had a transplant from a Pajero or a later Triton if it was indeed 3.5 litres. By the way the Kerb weight of my Triton is around 1750kg with fuel and tray. I dunno where you get 2200kg from. Maybe the 4wd version is that heavy. My 4x2 certainly isnt. Power output was around 250NM and 133KW flywheel. Edited April 16, 2010 by LittleRedSpirit Quote

Maybe it was only a 3.0L, One of the guys at work told me it was a 3.5 when I asked what size the engine was, He had a 3.5 rodeo so he probably got confused, Went alright for a 3.0 then. I got 2200kg from the scales at incitec pivot, Remember my ute was a work vehicle so I had the XL toolbox on the back plus all my tools, Workshop issued tools, Spare parts and fluids. Quote
