Twinky Posted October 30, 2012 Author Report Posted October 30, 2012 I do have a blanking plate but that is not the issue. What you can't see is that where the blanking plate bolts on there is a big section of metal missing. That is why there is soo much silicon. Quote
Twinky Posted October 30, 2012 Author Report Posted October 30, 2012 Well it wasn't the dam points that are the issue. One of two things methinks. 1. Intake manifold leak 2. Carby not correctly functioning Both of which are pains in the arse to sort out. Quote
Twinky Posted October 31, 2012 Author Report Posted October 31, 2012 I am tempted to but I need to figure this out in case it's a problem with the head and not the manifold/carby. Quote
ninja-philbo Posted October 31, 2012 Report Posted October 31, 2012 spray carby cleaner around the manifold and see if ur idel picks up. Quote
Twinky Posted October 31, 2012 Author Report Posted October 31, 2012 Drilled out the mounting plate to accommodate some sort of port on the bottom of the carb. Not sure if it had any noticeable effect. I was a bit apprehensive about spraying a flammable liquid all around my carb considering there was a hot exhaust right underneath so I sprayed water all around the carb. I've sprayed water around before to track down leaks and it works a treat. at this stage I think that the vacuum leak is coming from the manifold and not around the carby. Quote
