GJM85 Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 (edited) planning on the build of my 5k if i can ever find one. Browsing ebay there are currently 4 better than average forms of induction available. 1.Turbo prepped webber and manifold with sealed plennum 2.Centrifugal supercharger to suite standard k motor 3.Single sidedraft 40mm webber 4.Twin sidedraft 40mm webbers (also available in 45mm) My intent, give a 5k a full build with the good gear but need to decide on induction before I do so. Any advice, pros and cons and estimated outputs would be much appreciated. Cheers. Gav Edited August 6, 2010 by GJM85 Quote

GJM85 Posted August 7, 2010 Author Report Posted August 7, 2010 looking to supercharge a 5k. seems to be the best bang for my buck whilst keeping a degree of originality. Anyone know the ideal cam specs for blown k motor>? Quote
Dropz Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 no idea on specs, but I'm also a blower fan. haha, play on words  Quote

TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted August 7, 2010 Report Posted August 7, 2010 Jaygore, blowing through webers can be done and done well but is a tedious exercise. I can't really think of anyone doing that in aus, maybe a on alfa specialist. As for supercharging a 5k, there are a few ways to do it. Mainly it comes down to an efi or carbie choice. Blown 5k's ate real torque monsters and plenty of fun. Kickn5k has a blown injected intercooler setup with a custom blower cam in his ke11, it makes just shy of 100kw at the wheels and sounds like a 20b crossed with a NASCAR. It's loads of fun and easy to go back to stock if ever needed. Mind you, don't say no yo turbos, far more scope for improvement down the track if you feel the need and similar to setup etc. JP Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 if you havent read this already it might help you along abit :blinks: http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...oosted_K_motors Thats only half done at the moment. I need to add turbo info to that article yet. Anyway, as theNobbler said don't discount turbos yet. Superchargers can destroy gearboxes just as quick as turbo (if not quicker because of reaching full torque quicker), it really just comes down to how you drive it. As for cams with a SC. You want something pretty mild if not just a stock one. If you go too big the SC will hit full boost and you'll be suffering "cam lag" until it winds up a bit. Click "Tar" in my sig for 40 odd pages of turbo K goodness. ;) Quote
