treble Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Hey Guys, Were doing an auto to manual conversion on the KE55, and I'm told the clutch needs to be torqued on to the engine to a certian pressure... can someone please tell me the torque setting?? Thanks, Matt Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 the clutch doesn't touch the engine there is a torque setting for flywheel to crank, and there is a torque setting for pressure plate to flywheel, i'll look them both up when i get home i suggest buying a gregories manual don't forget to install a spigot bearing in the end of the crank Quote
Raven Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Have fun lining it up too. I think he meant Pressure Plate :P Clutch Plate is the double sided plate that goes between the Pressure Plate (solid heavy thing with diaphragm fingers in the middle) and the Flywheel (which bolts onto the engine side of things) Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 if you want to get technical, the sacrificial part is usually referred to as a "driven plate". when someone asks me about a "clutch plate", i ask "which one, driven or pressure?" :P pressure plate to flywheel - 21Nm flywheel retaining bolts - 66Nm Quote
Medicine_Man Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Have fun lining it up too. I think he meant Pressure Plate :P Thats why you sacrafice a K50 to the spline alignment gods! :rocknroll: Quote
TRD ke70 Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 make sure you read what's the clutch plate, they only go in one way. it should say "flywheel side" on one side of the plate. Quote
drewy86 Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 Me and treble are hopefully gonna be doing this on the weekend... Does anyone no what either the conversion is PSI or the conversion rate?? BTW this clutch and box is fairly new out of KE30 any probs there?? Quote
Super Jamie Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 there are no pounds-per-square-inch (psi) in a clutch, it's not a turbo. if you mean the conversion from newton-metres (Nm) of torque to foot-pounds (ft-lb) of torque, then google can help you with that http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Manual_Gearbox this will teach you about gearboxes http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Clutch this will teach you about clutch setting showing a little bit of initiative will get you a long way around here. showing none will do the opposite Quote
Raven Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 If at first you don't suceed, try again, if you don't suceed then, then ask almighty Super Jamie :P Quote

David[RL] Posted August 30, 2005 Report Posted August 30, 2005 do not thighten the bolt too much.. I managed to break one of the flywheel bolts yesterday as I was changing the flywheel #¤% had to weld a new bolt to the rest to remove it from the crank, luckely it worked :P on my old 2T engine I managed to break one of the pressure plate bolts..
