Trev Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Last weekend one of our customers (guy in his 70's) was out in his TT 300 on the Gold Coast and hit a floodway at speed which filled the engine with water and hydraulic-ed it locking it up instantly (will have some nice bent roads), the towie that picked it up said a lot of water came out of the exhaust when it was on it way onto the truck and then when he dropped it at work (monday) it did the same, basically the engine still has the Atlantic ocean in it but I have some pics of the plenum: Quote
Benno Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 hahaha, had to do a few UZ V8's through work for the same reasons. At least with a 300 it's kind of understandable, low slung front with the intake being where it is, wouldn't be hard to do. An expensive lesson to be learnt none the less. Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Is it even worth stripping and fixing? or just replace it.... Quote
irokin Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Damn thats nasty! I've got a cheap VH45 conversion if he wants it :P Quote
Trev Posted October 9, 2010 Author Report Posted October 9, 2010 Is it even worth stripping and fixing? or just replace it.... Better to fix it, there have been a few that have hydraulic-ed and have only bent the rods leaving the crank and pistons intact but the pistons get scored on the bottom if they rub the crank, you can't really trust a replacement engine as they normally also need work. Damn thats nasty! I've got a cheap VH45 conversion if he wants it :P Ha, vh45 conversions are fairly expensive in the 300, I am pretty sure that the owner is going to be selling it in an 'as is' state. Quote

Trev Posted November 9, 2010 Author Report Posted November 9, 2010 That's fkn epic, I'd be keeping those as trophies...... I will be, good old standard datsun pistons stood up to the punishment. Quote
