You have a wagon?

If so, seriously, don't bother. There are people out there who can make leaf springs do whatever you want.

You can get leaves to do whatever coils can. I've had two rally cars that ran leaf springs. Yes they're agricultural, but they left bigger, better and more powerful cars destitute at the side of the road.

Seriously, don't waste your money.

I'm with Red on this - don't waste your money. You'll get good results with throwing a lot less money at the leaves then what you'll get with having to redesigning the arse end for a coil set up.

The cheapest way, i think, of doing it would be to buy a scrapped ae86 (or t-18) and then cut out everything from the body that incorporates the suspension (trailing arm pick up points etc) and then do a cut-and-shut into the wagon. Why ae86 ? Its the closest coil sprung series to the wagon, the back seats can be lowered for the wagon like space. Thats my theory anyway.

And don't forget you'll have to talk to an engineer first to get the ok. And then see the same engineer half way though to find out if your still doing it correctly and then after to get it mod plated. I wouldn't expect much change from a grand on getting it engineered. And even then i can see the guy holding his hand out for more...

Best bet, talk to a suspension place.

Fit trailing arms and a panhard onto your leaf springs if they are a problem. You are trying to stop the diff winding up or moving around the place, and the actual springs are separate to this.

Anti-tramp rods are aftermarket items in the USA with their V8s and leaf springs. You could invert a half-spring to do the same job, anything to stop the leaf pack forming an "S" shape under acceleration.

i think modifications of this nature are a bit out of the "Scope" for corollas.

corolla is (to me) a light cheap rwd car that is plenty of fun to drive with some relatively easy/cheap modifications.

if you have the cash to throw around for converting leaf/coil rear ends...maybe look into a different car that already has these modifications, so you can then use said money to make it better. rather than spending all this extra cash and still not be as good as an already available option that could be had for cheaper.

i mean I'm all for engineering and "breaking the mould" but maybe not this. although if you have the skills to do all the work yourself, then by all means go for your life it would be awesome, but if you are intending on paying someone...then i woudlnt even bother.

fabrication/consultants on this kind of thing, your looking at $70/hour minimum. wont take long to be VEERY expensive.
