hey people i am thinking of purchasing a weber of a mate he had it on a ke30 apparently its been rebuilt but hasnt been used for a few years would that be a problem ? just after some advice on what difference they make performance wise and is there anything i should no before i go about attempting to put it on your info would be greatly appreciated cheers joe :y:

I'm assuming its a 32/36 off a ford.

 

I recently chucked one on my 4k KE25.

 

What you need is:

 

weber

weber adapter (redline brand)

ramflo airfilter is also good to get for it

 

If its been sitting around probably dusty, give it a good clean with some compressed air.

 

Chuck adapter on and they bolt straight on to a 4K

 

You will have issues connecting the accelerator cable and will need the appropriate linkage for the accelerator cable on the carb (if it doesn't have the right one already)

 

Will need a return spring on the linkage.

 

Also not sure about KE30 but KE25 don't have much pedal travel so only one throat opens up when you get it connected. Not an issue with KE70s.

 

Can be rectified by making a custom linkage mechanism.

 

Many people say a 32/36 is just that bit too big for a stock 4k, and ive noticed why, when you rev it it slows down for a sec and then picks up, but when it does its real nice.

 

you will notice the engine will run a lot smoother.

 

You will use more fuel but shouldn't be too much of an issue they are small engines.

all is true.. mine did the same to fix it what i did and it worked

 

i jamed the choke flaps closed between half and 3/4 i don't have that issue now

 

i think because to much air sucks in to fast when the engine is at such a low rpm and it can't handle it

 

but any way you guys try it and tell me if it works :)

The problems above show you the advantage of a Weber... :rolls:

 

You can get different throats ('chokes') and jets, so you can tune the carb for best performance and make sure there are no flatspots or bogging down. You will need some time with a gas analyser to get the mixture right. If one person did it scientifically they could tell us whch chokes and jets suit the stock 4K best, rather than driving around any problems.

can anyone post up pics of their linkages they came up with to adapt the weber to a KE25 KE30 55 and KE70 throttle cable.

I'm currently waiting for the adaptor plate for my 4k and then this weekend ill put it on and be making a custom linkage

from memory ill prob just cut and old peice off and weld it in the right spot .. worked for a15 ..

fully rebuilt 3 months ago cost me 200 looks brand new :D

This is one that may have come out of a 70,I'm unsure,its just a factory toyota linkage

cut off,fliped over,and welded to the weber,this is easy and solves the problem

of the weber throttle rotating in the opposite direction to standard carb.

The link made for mine for a 32/36 for a 4k.

 

Which I still have to put on. (Weber not the linkage mount)

 

 

I can measure it up and give you some dimensions, possibly in autocad if you want.

when i put my 38/38 weber on my car I just unbolted the old linkage off the standard carb and put it on the weber.

Ahh that linkage. My bad. Same as above pretty much.
