JiP Posted September 24, 2011 Author Report Posted September 24, 2011 Well one of my favourite things about this trailer is the tailgate. It may look a bit shabby but when open, its a great ramp. Well... it was :S I lent the trailer to a mate and when I got it back it was missing a hinge. Not his fault. The guy I bought it off, the same guy that welded the hinges on, was bodgie. The hinge rusted off! :o Not a surprise tho as I found he was using cement to fill in holes in the body. Anyway I grinded the remainder of the hinges off as well as the last remaining bit of the original hinge, and gave it a lick of paint. I couldn't be f@$ked messing around with the Subaru paint so that strip is just black. Chucked on some hinges with some high tensile bolts... And the end results. Not too happy with the swing range but thats the best I could do. Thinking eventually I'll dress up the tailgate with some more timber. No rush, all in good time Quote
JiP Posted April 14, 2012 Author Report Posted April 14, 2012 So my BIL came to borrow my trailer and seems the last person to borrow it did some damage. All I can assume is that they hit a bump hard and the axle has bounced up and somehow severed the trailer wiring... Seems that when my BIL went to hook it up it was shorting out and blew his fuse. I ended up reconnecting the wires with these crappy plastic things, but for some reason they always pull out. I ended up twisting them together, then taping up everyone individualy and lastly taping the whole group together. Then cause I have so much extra wire I was able to pull extra wire out and redirect it away from the axle and onto the base of the timber floor :) Now works a treat. Can't wait for the new wiring to arrive for my camper trailer!! :D Quote
